My eyes snapped open, the vision still burning in my mind. Marcus. The Harvester. A few blocks from Vinnie's. This wasn't happening later. This was happening now. I grabbed my phone and called Marcus. It rang twice before he picked up. "Kaiden? Dude, where have you been? I've been trying to—" "Where are you right now?" "What?" "Where. Are. You." "I'm walking to Vinnie's for my shift. Why? What's wrong?" A few blocks from Vinnie's, exactly like the vision showed. "Turn around. Go home. Right now." "What? No, I can't just—" "Marcus, please. Trust me. Turn around and go home." There was a pause on the other end. "Kaiden, are you okay? You sound—" I didn't have time to explain. Didn't have time to convince him with words.
