I woke up in my bed three days later.
My body felt like it had been hit by a truck. Every muscle ached, my head throbbed, and when I tried to sit up, the room spun violently.
Andrea was sitting in the chair by my desk, her eyes red from crying. When she saw me move, she rushed over.
"Kaiden! Oh thank God. You've been unconscious for three days. I almost called an ambulance."
Three days. I'd been out for three days while my consciousness slowly pieced itself back together from the Shadow Depths disaster.
"I'm okay," I managed, though my voice came out rough.
"You're not okay. You collapsed in your room and wouldn't wake up. Your fever was so high I thought—" She stopped, wiping her eyes. "What's happening to you? Please, just tell me what's wrong."
