The training started immediately.
Gia created a simulation in the grey mist. A construct that mimicked the structure of consciousness without actually being someone's mind.
"Before you can navigate a real person's consciousness, you need to understand how minds are structured," she explained. "Surface thoughts are easy. Anyone can see those. But deeper layers require skill."
The simulation appeared in front of us. It felt like looking through layers of translucent glass, one on top of the next, all of them glowing softly in different hues.
"The top layer is active consciousness," Gia said, pointing. "What someone is thinking and feeling right now. Below that are recent memories. Below that, older memories and learned behaviors. And at the very bottom, the core of who they are."
