Chapter Seventeen - Surprise

We’re at the pack hospital getting everyone checked out. Thomas got hurt pretty badly and is now in a medically induced coma to help him heal from his injuries . When Fennicks airbag went off it broke his nose and some other bones in his face. Merrick has a dislocated shoulder and a few cuts and bruises. The doctors want to check him for a concussion but he is more concerned with me since I hit my head on the window. I told him I’m fine but he is a stubborn man. The doctor took some blood and is currently giving me a check up. 

“Really I’m fine. I just want to get home.” I tell the doctor when he points his light in my eyes. 

“Once I make sure you two are okay I will send you guys home.” The doctor replies. “Your blood work should be back soon and I want to make sure you guys are going to heal properly.” 

“Shouldn’t we be worrying about Thomas though? Did anyone contact his mate?” I ask. 

“Luna, Thomas has some great people taking care of him. From what they’ve told me he will be lifted out of the coma tomorrow. Wolves are fast healers but sometimes we need a little extra help. His mate has been notified and is on her way here. Right now my main concern is with you two since you are the leaders of this pack. Luna, your head wound is healing phenomenally.” The doctor says then walks over to Merrick. I watch as he lines Merrick up with a nurse's help and pops his shoulder back into place. I gasp at the sound it makes but Merrick makes no reaction. “Would you like something for the pain Alpha?” 

“No I’m fine.” Merrick says and looks at me. 

“Alright well I’m going to go check on the status of your blood work Luna and make sure Fennick and Thomas are doing well. I’ll be back momentarily.”  The doctor and nurse leave the room.

“You aren’t telling me something.” Merrick says. f*****g mate bond.

“I’ll tell you but you can’t freak out. Please, keep a calm head.” I gulp.

“Okay.” Merrick replies.

“So you’re his mate.” I hear a sickening voice ring through the air. 

“Who are you?” I ask, looking around to see the owner to the voice. 

“My name is Alec, the rightful Alpha to The Evercrown Pack.” I see a dirty blonde man with bloodshot eyes step into view. I grimace at his site. He looks sickly, probably because of the loss of being part of an actual pack. His features may have once been handsome but now his cheeks are sunken, bags under his eyes, and his clothes hang loosely from his body. Alec takes a step closer to me and takes a deep breath. “Well isn’t that just precious. You’re carrying the next usurper.” 

My hand flies to my stomach and fear runs through my body. I then remember who is standing in front of me, Alec. The piece of trash who killed my people. My eyes narrow and I spit through clenched teeth, “You are not worthy of being Alpha to this pack. No sane person attacks and kills innocent people.”

“That’s right, you were part of that pack my followers used as practice last month. Tell me, what happened to the two I left behind to talk to you?” Alec acts so nonchalant and arrogant it makes me want to rip his throat out.

“I killed them. I’ll happily show you how.” 

“Oh my grievance isn’t with you but with my cousin.” Alec moves closer to the car. “Once I get rid of him I may have to take you for myself.” He tries to reach a hand out to touch me but I slap it away. He lets out a sickening laugh which makes Fennick groan loudly from the seat in front of me and Alec takes a step back to look. “Well my dear until next time,” He bows. “I’ll make sure we see each other again real soon.” Alec and the girl shift and run off before anyone wakes up and I’m left seething in anger.

I finish telling Merrick everything that happened and what Alec said, I see his eyes drift to my lower stomach. 

“Is it true?” He asks.

“I don’t know, I was planning on taking a test when we got home but since they took my blood I’m sure it’ll show up on there.” I reply.

“I won’t let him get close to you ever again.” Merrick says and walks over to me. He hugs me tightly as if on queue the doctor walks in.

“Luna, Alpha I got the blood work results back. It seems that you are expecting, congratulations.” He says and I tense in Merricks arms. 

“Thank you, are we free to go?” Merrick asks.

“Yes Alpha, just make sure that you make an appointment to get the baby checked out.” Seeing as you have only been here for about a month it will be too soon to see anything.” The doctor bows his head and leaves the room. 

“What if something happened to the baby when we got hit?” I ask no one in particular. “I don’t think I can-” I start crying and Merrick holds me tighter to him. 

“Shhh. You are so strong, with everything you’ve gone through you amaze me. I know with you as the mother that our child will be as strong as you.” Merrick whispers in my ear. “Let’s go home so you can rest and I’ll call to make an appointment.” 

“Okay.”  I reply. We walk out of the hospital hand in hand back to the pack house. Merrick leads me through the door, up the stairs, and into our room where he helps me out of my clothes and into the shower. Merrick helps me carefully wash my hair and body. He quickly washes himself and then shuts off the shower. He dries my body off and puts one of his t-shirts on me and lays me on our bed. I watch as he pulls on a pair of gym shorts and lays next to me. Merrick wraps his arms around me and doesn’t let go as I fall asleep. 

I dream of two little boys with beautiful green eyes and cute button noses, black hair like Merricks and plump red lips like mine. The little boys lay in my arms with a smile on their faces. I feel my heart flutter in my chest as I see these gorgeous little boys in my arms. I can feel so much love for these two. But soon this beautiful moment is disrupted by  a dark cloud looming over us. I feel fear as I start running with the twin boys tucked safely in my arms. I can’t let anything happen to them and will do everything in my power to keep them safe. I hear Alec’s voice but can’t see him anywhere as I continue running. “Take you for myself.” I hear his sick laugh as I look down to see my boys gone. I scream out, and run around trying to find them but it starts to get darker and darker. I can’t see anything and continue screaming. 

“Sky, baby wake up.” I hear Merricks voice call out to me. My eyes open and I feel tears streaming down my face. Just a dream, that’s all it was. I wrap my arms around Merricks neck and hold him closer to me. “It’s okay Sky, I’m right here.” 

“I’m so scared Merrick.” I whisper. 

“I know my love. I’m scared too, but hey,” He cups my cheep and looks into my eyes. “I am right here and we have each other.”

“You’re scared?” I ask.

“Of course I am, I’m scared for you, for our child, for our pack. I fear for this packs safety from Alec. I fear for the life of our unborn child because of Alec's actions. I fear for you to have to go through the loss of a child so soon after you lost your parents.” Merrick answers. “But through all of this I have you, seeing your strength makes me strong. You are an amazing woman and I’m so lucky to be your mate. I know I don’t show my emotions that much but you make me so happy and I will do anything to make you happy. So if we do end up losing this child,” He places a hands on my stomach. “Then we will try again when you’re ready. We will get through this together, because together we are stronger.” 

I’m stunned by his response but his words give me ease for some reason. “I love you.” I tell him. 

“And I love you.” Merrick replies. He leans down and kisses me. 

I wrap my arms around his neck and bring him closer to me. I bring one hand down to Merricks bare chest and move it down his smooth skin. I don’t stop when I make it to the top of his shorts, I let my hand slip in and grasp his p***s. I start to pump him and bite his lip. I push him so he’s laying on the bed and pull my hand out of his shorts. I remove my shirt and yank his shorts down before I lean over and put my mouth over his manhood. I begin to suck him, moving my head up and down while my hands stroke the shaft. I hear Merrick moan and he sits up. He quickly picks me up and rotates us so I am laying down and he is on top. He moves his head between my legs and I feel his tongue lightly flicker inside of me. He adds a finger and gently moves it in and out while moving his tongue around. He stops and sits up, moving up the bed so his p***s is resting between my legs, looking into my eyes. I nod my head yes knowing he’s asking me permission. He gently pushes into me and slowly pumps himself in and out. I bring a leg up to help him move deeper and he starts working faster. I feel him hit the right spot and I moan loudly as I c*m. I feel Merrick release himself inside of me. He falls to the bed next to me and lets out a breath. 

“Sorry, I want to take it easy with you until we talk to the doctor.” Merrick says while moving some hair out of my face. “I want you to relax and take it easy. Now I’ll be right back, I’m going to get you some food, it’s been awhile since we ate lunch.” 

Merrick stands up and heads out of the bedroom to head to our kitchen. I couldn’t be any luckier than I already am to have such an amazing mate. The Moon Goddess knew what she was doing when she made him.
