Chapter Twelve - Romance and Love

We finally finished all out shopping and made it home with everyone exhausted. We unloaded the cars and delivered everyone their new clothes and items, they were all very happy with everything. I’m so pleased that my people are welcome and being taken care of. I couldn’t ask for a better mate and pack. A couple guards have to help me take all my stuff upstairs since I bought an entire new wardrobe for myself. I start unpacking things and putting them where they go. I take tags off clothes and get ready to wash them before I realize I don’t know where the laundry room is. 

“Hey Emma where can I find the laundry room?” I mindlink her.

“There's actually one on your floor. I’ll be up in just a minute to show you.” She replies.

I grab the clothes and the hamper that already has stuff in it and walk out of the room. When I make it to the stairs Emma comes running up to meet me. 

“Okay so since the house is so big and there’s so many people, Merriks parents had a laundry room put in years ago.” She tells me as we walk to the other end of the hall. She opens the last door and turns on the light. Sure enough there’s a laundry room with everything I’ll need. “Here you go.” 

“Thank you. I swear I almost need a map for this house. It’s so much bigger than my old pack house.” I say. I start sorting my clothes and put a load into the washer to start. 

“Oh mine too! You’ll get used to it though, eventually you will know this place like the back of your hand.” Emma helps me sort more clothes as she talks. “So, what little number are you going to wear tonight?”

“I was thinking about this one.” I say while light blue bustier with the matching bottoms. 

“Oooh good choice. It’s 5:00 now so you have about two hours before they get home so you should have plenty of time to wash and dry them. Make sure not to dry them on full heat after you wash them.” 

“I won’t, thank you. Thank you for everything, I don’t think I could have done all this today without you guys.” I say and give Emma a hug. 

“You’re welcome, I’m so happy you’re our Luna I couldn’t imagine anyone else being such a great fit.” Emma tells me before she leaves. 

I finish putting the rest of the lingerie and other delicate stuff in the washer then head back to my room. I grab all my toiletries and put them away under my sink in the bathroom. Then I walk over to the shower and turn it on before I strip out of my clothes. I grab my new shampoo and body wash and get in under the warm water. I wash my hair and body and just let the warm ease the tension in my shoulders. Once I’m done I dry off and head to the closet. I grab out a dark blue loose fitting dress that goes to the middle of my thighs. I’ll be able to wear the bustier under the dress without it being seen. I grab one of Merricks shirts and throw it on before I run down the hall to put my stuff in the dryer. I remember to change the temperature before I start it. I start another load and run back to our bedroom. I blow dry my hair and leave it down to flow in natural waves, then I put a little bit of makeup on, go back to my closet to pick out some dark blue heels before I run back to the laundry room and my stuff is finally done in the dryer. I grab it out and run back to the  and  bedroom where I slip the light blue bustier on with the matching bottoms. I look at myself in the mirror and feel my cheeks heat up. I really hope he likes this, I think as I step into my dress and sip it up. I put my heels on and I hear a light knocking at the door and go to open it to find one of the cooks.

“Luna, I have just finished setting up the meal you requested in your kitchen. Do you need anything before I leave?” He asks.

“No, thank you so much.” I reply.

The cook smiles and bows his head before leaving. I quickly grab the present I got for Merrick and check the time. I have five minutes before he gets home so I text Merrick to tell him to come up to our floor once he gets home. I walk to our kitchen and see that the cook put tall white candles in the center of the table. There’s beef wellington on our plates, with mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. He left the gravy on the side and there's a couple slices of carrot cake on the counter. He put red wine in the glasses on the table and laid out silverware for us. Lucy must have had them working all day to prepare this. I am so excited for him to get home and see all his favorite foods for dinner. I place his present on the table and then walk to the top of the stairs. I use my wolf hearing to listen for Merrick. I hear footsteps and the doorknob turning. People stepping in and the heartbeat of my mate. I hear him walk to the stairs and start climbing up. My heart races and I start  to get nervous with anticipation. My hands become sweaty and I have to wipe them off on my dress, I take a deep breath before I see Merrick at the bottom of our stairs. 

“Hey there handsome.” I say seductively. “I have a surprise for you.”

“Is that so?” He asks with a chuckle. As he makes it to the top I take his hand and lead him to the kitchen. 

“I had the cooks make all your favorites.” I say when we make it to our kitchen. 

“Wow thank you.” He looks at all the food and smiles. We sit down and I see him looking at the box that holds his watch. “Is this for me?”

“Yeah, open it.” I say feeling excited. I watch as he takes the bow off and opens the box. 

“This is very nice thank you angel. You didn’t have to do all this for me.” Merrick says.

“I wanted to. You’ve done so much for me and my people. I want to make you happy and do something for you.”

“You’re my mate, you already make me happy.”

We start eating our food and I get nervous thinking about a way to bring up what I said on the phone earlier. “What’s got you so anxious?” Merrick asks while looking at me.

“I- Uh, our phone call this morning. I said ‘I love you’.” I shift in my seat.

“I remember, and you hung up pretty quickly.” His gaze is guarded.

“I was worried because I didn’t mean to say it. Not that I don’t feel love towards you, I do. I just didn’t know how you felt or if you could love me.”

“What do you mean if I could love you?” I can feel him getting irritated with me.

“Because we just met and I’m grieving for the loss of my people and parents. Because right now I feel broken, but when you’re near I feel like I’m glued back together. You make me feel complete.”

“The mate bond is a wonderful thing Sky. Before you meet your mate you are missing half of yourself and don’t even know it. But as soon as you do meet your mate you feel whole because you finally feel that missing piece being put back.” Merrick takes my hand in his. “I care about you Skylla and you’re my missing piece. I’ve loved you since the moment I laid eyes on you. You may feel broken right now but it’ll get better.”

“I love you Merrick.” My heart skips a beat and I feel happy tears form in my eyes. He leans across the table and gives me a kiss. We continue eating and talking about my adventure to the mall today and shopping with everyone. 

“You know I got a few calls from the guards and new pack members today. They said how proud they were of their Luna. You did a great job and I’m proud of you.” Merrick says while standing up. He picked up the two pieces of cake and brought them to the table.

“Thank you.” I say while taking my slice. “I want to be a good leader and give our people someone they can be proud of. You know your mom mentioned grandbabies this morning Do you want that? Kids?”

“Of course I do. Do you?” Merrick takes his seat and starts to eat his cake.

“Yeah, I’ve always wanted kids. But I think right now with everything going on with  the rogues it isn’t an ideal time to bring a child into our lives.”

“There’s always going to be rogues Skylla, that’s never going to change but I promised you we will stop Alec and that’s what I’m planning to do. I have reliable people inside his faction feeding us information.”

“I thought you only had one informant?” I ask.

“There’s a few in case someone is planning on defecting.” He answers.

“Don’t they know about each other?”

“No, only one person knows about all of the other informants and she would never betray me.” Merrick says, ”I don’t want you to worry about the right time to have a child or else there will never be a right time. How about this? If it happens we will just take everything one step at a time. Because I promise you, I will do everything in my power to protect you and our future children.”

“Alright that seems fair. Are you done? I have another surprise for you.” I speak while taking our dishes and put them in the sink. Merrick takes me by the hand and gives me a sexy grin. 

“Oh yeah I’m done with the food.” 

We walk to our room and after shutting our door I push Merrick on the bed. I unzip my dress and let it fall to the floor, I watch as Merricks gaze fills with lust. His eyes turn black and I feel him become turned on through our mate bond. I slip off my heels and walk closer to the bed.
