Seduction in Rain

1161 Words
The air inside Kai’s apartment was thick, suffocating, charged with something electric. The shadows had vanished, but the weight of their presence still lingered, wrapping around Lila’s chest like an iron grip. She should have demanded answers. She should have pushed past Kai, run down the hallway, and left this entire nightmare behind. But she didn’t. Because deep down, she knew she wasn’t ready to leave him. She needed space, needed to breathe. Without thinking, she turned and unlocked the door, stepping out into the cold night. Alone in the Storm The rain had grown heavier, each drop soaking through her thin shirt, chilling her to the bone. The alley was quiet, eerily so, as if the world had gone still just for her. Her arms wrapped around herself, but it wasn’t the cold that made her shiver. It was everything. Kai. The way he kissed her, touched her, owned every breath she took inside his apartment. The way he had claimed her as his in front of whatever had lurked in the dark. The worst part was that a part of her wanted to be his. Lila took in a shaky breath, trying to steady herself, but it was no use. Her mind was a storm, her heart still racing from the way his lips had moved against hers, the way his hands had gripped her as if he would never let go. Then, suddenly—she wasn’t alone anymore. The Hunter Finds His Prey “You shouldn’t be out here alone.” Kai’s voice cut through the storm, smooth and lethal, the sound of a man who had already decided her fate. Lila didn’t turn around. “I needed air.” His footsteps were slow as he approached, deliberate, each step filled with intent. She felt him behind her before she saw him, his heat wrapping around her even though the cold rain still poured down. “You’re shaking,” he murmured. Lila bit her lip, trying to steady herself. “I wonder why.” Kai exhaled, low and controlled. “Is that fear, Lila?” She finally turned, anger flaring in her chest. “You tell me. You’re the one keeping secrets.” Lightning illuminated the sky for a brief second, highlighting the sharp angles of his face, the intensity in his gaze. “I never lied to you,” Kai said, his voice softer now, almost dangerous in its quietness. “You just don’t want to believe the truth.” Lila swallowed, unable to break his stare. “And what is the truth?”. Kai stepped forward, closing the space between them in a single breath. “You belong to me,” he said, each word slow, deliberate, possessive. Lila’s heart slammed against her ribs. She should have pushed him away. She should have said no. But she didn’t. Because part of her wanted him to be right. The Kiss That Claimed Her The moment stretched between them, thick with something neither of them could ignore. Kai’s hand lifted, his fingers tracing the side of her jaw, tilting her chin up. “Tell me you don’t want this,” he murmured. His voice was fire in the cold, searing through every inch of her. Lila’s lips parted, but no words came. Because she couldn’t lie. Kai’s gaze darkened. His thumb brushed against her bottom lip, a slow, torturous touch. Then he kissed her. It was slow at first, like he was savoring the moment, like he was memorizing the way she tasted. But then something inside him snapped. His grip tightened, pulling her against him, pressing her into the cold brick wall of the alley. His lips moved against hers with a hunger she had never known, deep, consuming, a claiming she could feel in her bones. Lila gasped, but Kai didn’t let her escape. His fingers slid into her damp hair, gripping it just enough to keep her right where he wanted her. His tongue brushed against hers, slow, coaxing, sending a sharp, dizzying heat through her entire body. Lila moaned against his mouth, her nails raking over his chest, needing more, needing everything. Kai groaned, a low, rough sound vibrating against her lips, his body pressing harder against hers. She could feel everything. The heat of him, the strength, the raw, unrelenting need. His lips left hers only to trail lower, down the curve of her jaw, to the sensitive skin of her throat. “You’re mine,” he whispered against her skin. Lila trembled, not from fear, but from the way those two words sent fire licking through her veins. She didn’t fight him. She didn’t want to. Her fingers curled into his shirt, pulling him impossibly closer, needing to drown in the feeling of him. Kai’s teeth grazed her neck, a soft bite that had her gasping, arching against him. “Say it,” he murmured, his breath hot against her pulse. “Say you’re mine.” Lila’s body betrayed her. The words almost slipped out, almost gave him exactly what he wanted. Then, a sound in the darkness. A whisper. Not from Kai. Not from her. It came from the alley behind them, low, unnatural, something that did not belong in this world. The Spell Shatters Kai froze. His entire body went rigid, his head snapping toward the shadows beyond them. Lila’s dazed mind struggled to catch up, still burning from the way he had touched her, kissed her, made her forget everything except him. But now, something colder was creeping in. Because she saw it. The shadows in the alley moved. A figure stepped forward, just barely visible in the dim light. Not human. Not entirely. Lila felt the terror slam into her chest. Kai’s arm shot out, pushing her behind him in a single, protective motion. His voice came out sharp, lethal, filled with a warning she didn’t understand. “You’re making a mistake.” The figure tilted its head, an eerie, unnatural movement. A voice slithered through the air, layered, distorted. “She belongs to us, Draven.” Lila’s breath caught. Kai let out a slow, measured exhale, his fingers curling into fists at his sides. “No,” he said, his voice calm but filled with something deadly. “She belongs to me.” The shadows flickered, the presence growing stronger, heavier. Then, just as suddenly as it had come, it was gone. The alley fell silent. Lila’s hands trembled, her body still buzzing from the way Kai had touched her, but now shaking for an entirely different reason. Kai exhaled slowly, his shoulders tense. Then he turned to her, his gaze darker than she had ever seen it. “You’re not leaving my side.” Lila wanted to argue, to tell him he didn’t control her. But for the first time, she realized something terrifying. This wasn’t just about desire anymore. Something wanted her. And Kai was the only thing standing in its way.
