Aria’s POV
I heard my name from a distance— it sounded like an echo.
“Aria,” it came again, but this time, closer.
I slowly opened my eyes and blinked twice. The image above me was blurry, but I could tell it smiled at me.
“Aria, wake up,” I heard again. I wiped my eyes, and Tera was smiling down at me. I knew the voice was familiar, but seeing Tera was unexpected.
“Tera, you are alive!” I voiced out. I stood up quickly from the soft grass, ignoring the pain I felt in my head. She held me so tight to herself and we cried together.
“I thought I would never see you again,” I cried.
“But I’m here now and will never leave your side,” she replied, patting my hair gently.
“You look beautiful,” she said, separating herself from me. And at that moment, I realized where we were— alone.
I turned around and looked around us— stepping at a distance. It was a beautiful garden— it felt like heaven. The sky was bright and blue. It looked different from our normal world. I raised my hands towards the sun. It made my skin glow. I looked around me with my eyes wide open. The flowers surrounded us—flowers I never knew existed. They were in different colors and their scents filled the air.
Butterflies flew around, and one perched on my dress. That was when I realized I had new clothes on. It was a long, yellow floral dress— it covered my feet.
“Where are we? "Heaven?” I asked, looking back at Tera.
“Come,” she gestured. She held my hands and led me to a log where we sat facing each other.
She held my face with her hands, and instantly they felt cold on my cheeks. She smiled at me and shook her head in disappointment.
“ No, not heaven,” She took a deep breath and spoke calmly —“You survived.”
I tried asking more questions, but my words hung in my throat —I was in shock. It happened so fast.
My body trembled, watching Tear’s lifeless body on the ground. Her blood stained my clothes and also splashed on the surrounding flowers.
I looked up at the faceless man who stood with a sword—dripping blood. He had no identity —only covered in darkness. He looked like a shadow.
He had pierced through Tera from behind. He appeared from nowhere. I wondered what his mission was, but I had no answer as he disappeared into the thin air without a word.
I fell to my knees and stared at the lifeless body —Tera.
“What just happened,” I thought.
The clouds grew sad. It gradually changed to darkness. Lightning struck, and thunder sounds were made.
Fear gripped me as the man resurfaced. He stepped in my direction and I stood up and ran.
The flowers died slowly as I passed them. I looked back, searching for him, but he was nowhere to be found. I froze, feeling the presence behind me— he was too close. I couldn’t escape.
In a heartbeat, I was pushed by a sudden force as I tried running.
I hit the ground hard on my abdomen. My knees scraped the dirt, and for a second, I stayed there—the pain hooked me. Then I turned fast ,and my eyes caught him.
He was coming straight at me in slow steps. His sword was already raised, pointing right at me.
I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t think.
I screamed.
Instantly, I threw my hands up — to stop him from stabbing me. But the blade was too close and then —
My eyes flew open.
I shot up from the bed like something had forced me up. I felt my chest tighten. My heart didn’t stop— it beat faster. My hands were still in the air.
It was a dream that felt so real.
My heart shattered into pieces as I remembered Tera. I regretted not saving her — and this was the second time. I knew I wouldn’t see her again. I didn’t know what my dream was all about, but something kept telling me Tera was gone forever.
I felt my skin and I was alive. Tera knew I would live— my dream brought me back to life.
I cried silently— my tears were hot. I felt them drop without control. I just woke up from a dream, only to find myself in a room. I couldn’t recall what happened, but I knew I left my life to fate while in the forest waiting for help.
The rays of sunlight penetrated through the glass window— reflecting on me. It gave the room good lighting.
It was wide and built with stones and in a circle. Burnt candles were hung at each corner of the room. A wooden table was at the center with herbs on top. Scrolls were piled up in the left corner of the room.
I was dressed in a white lining— more like underwear. I stepped down from the bed and walked towards the table. My feet were bare. My hair tangled, and my throat was dry— I needed water.
I bent to pick the cup and realized I felt no pain. I felt my stomach where I bled from—nothing, no wound, no pain. I was wounded in the forest and it was a deep one. How did I heal? I asked myself, having no answer to it.
I was left alone in the room. I had no idea where I was or why I was alive.
The room looked amazing but lonely. It was quiet. I heard no footsteps or voices.
I felt empty within myself. My life was full of pain. I’ve lost so much— my parents, Tera and my mate.
I fell to the floor and placed my head on the table—I whipped. My heart was heavy. The universe had no love for me. Each stage of my life came with an obstacle.
I thought running from my pack would bring me peace, but no, it brought me more disaster and pain.
I didn’t bother fighting anymore. I didn’t want to know more about the current place I found myself in. I was tired of breathing— I was tired of life.
I sat on the floor, wondering about my life and how fate had played me.
I heard footsteps.
