Chapter 5:

WILLIAM'S POV "Are you aware of their breakup? "I asked Benj as we walked back to our classroom after the break. "I don't have any idea, bro," he answered, shaking his head. "I was still shocked. I mean, they seemed happy, didn't they? They're fine." He is right. Before we went on vacation, Markus and Margarette were doing well. Now I'm wondering as to when it all happened. What's the reason behind it? "Now I see why Markus doesn't seem to be in a good mood. He even walked out of the classroom. Which is strange. Why didn't he inform us, though? "I wondered, my gaze falling on Benj. "I have no idea, dude!  But one thing was certain: he needs someone right now. It must have been tough for him. We saw how much he genuinely loves Margarette," he responded. I gave the nod. I agree; I observed Markus go to great lengths to get Margarette to fall in love with him, and the moment she did, he never stopped making her happy. When we got to the classroom, I told Benj, "He's not here yet." As we walked to our seats, he said, "I'll text him." As an answer, I simply nodded. Our next lecturer appeared after a little while. We did the same thing with other subjects. We didn't get an answer from Markus until the class ended. I tried texting him as well but received no response. We also tried calling him, but he seemed to ignore us. "I'm beginning to get concerned about Markus. Should we call Tita Elizabeth? "I told Benj. He responded, "I don't believe that's a good idea." "Why? Is it possible that he's returned home? "All I can say is that I hope he is. "But what if he isn't?  And, like us, Tita has no idea what's going on with Markus? I don't want him to be enraged by our actions."  He explained, "I don't want to add to what he already carrying." he added I can't believe I hadn't considered that. "You make a good point. Please accept my apologies for not thinking that. I merely annoyed him earlier at the cafeteria for getting in the way of his conflict with Kyla, and after knowing what he's up to, I don't want to add to his stress even more," I added as I began to fix my stuff. "Can you tell me who Kyla is?  Is she the girl in the cafeteria? How did you figure out what her name was?" he inquired. "Yeah. I overheard her friend refer to her as Kyla. Remember how she was helped earlier by a friend? "I said. "Ah, I see. You know what? You've simply done the right thing. We all know Markus' treatment of the girl was not ideal. The girl, on the other hand, didn't seem quite right as well. Her approach to being seen by Markus was a little pushy. If I were in Markus' shoes, I might not be able to conceive of the best course of action. Imagine your greatest love being accused of being with someone else after being left. That's insane. That's unacceptable, bro. Well, that's just me." He said. "Are you all set to go?  Let's keep contacting Markus and keep each other informed and updated if he eventually responds to our text messages or phone calls. Is that something you're okay with? "I asked. I don't know where he'll go; as much as I want to track him down, I don't have the capability. And for the time being, the best thing to do is to leave him alone and wait till he's ready to talk. "Sure. I'll keep you updated as soon as he contacts me. Let's go home and wait for him to answer," he suggested. We left our classroom and walked to the parking lot together. I get my key in my pocket and bid Benj goodbye. "I'm leaving now. Let's stay in touch till Markus responds," I added, reminding him. I hopped into my car and placed my belongings in the back seat. I'm still thinking about Markus as I drive home. I'm curious as to where he went. As I walked into the house, the maid welcomed me with, "Good Afternoon, Sir William. Sir, what do you want to eat? Your sister had called earlier to say that they would be staying in New York longer-" I cut her off and said, "I'm still full," and smiled at her. "I'm going to my room right now.  Please excuse me. I have a bunch of things to do." It's nothing new to me. My parents are both business people, and they always bring my younger sister with them. Because she is homeschooled, she can complete her schoolwork from any location. My parents believe she has a better chance of running the company than I do. As a result, they constantly bring her along. Due to their hectic schedules, I frequently see them. I spend the majority of my time with the maids. I am the type of person who prefers to stay at home rather than go out. Markus and Benjamin would sometimes pay me a visit to keep me company. They've been my best buddies since I was in seventh grade. Later that night, Nelly came into my room and said, "Sir William, dinner is ready." "I'm fine, Nelly.  I'm not going to eat tonight. You can just eat what you cook."  I was ready to close the door when she spoke again. "Sir, you haven't had anything to eat yet." "I'm not hungry." "But, Sir, what will I say to your parents if they call and ask if you've eaten yet? "Just tell them I did. You're free to leave now if you have nothing more to say. I'm going to do something," I replied, bored. "All right, Sir," she said hesitantly as I shut the door behind her. I picked up my phone on my desk to see if Markus had responded to one of my messages, but all I saw were notifications from my social media accounts. Benj did not send me a message either. Thus I believe he was not contacted by Markus as well.
