Chapter 6:

ATHENA'S POV "Hello, ma'am!" "As soon as I got in the car, our driver, Roger, greeted me. "Hello, Roger!" I returned his greeting as I placed my bag to the side. He took the wheel as soon as he noticed I was already comfortable in my seat. I offered Megan a ride earlier because she said she would take a jeepney to their house. However, she declined to join me, claiming that she is already used to commuting. I even encouraged her a little further, telling her that it was okay and insisting on it. But she refused once more. So I just accepted because it appears that I won't be able to persuade her otherwise. I only care about her because I know it's not always safe to commute, and I also recall that she's trying to save money, so if she agrees, she'll save the money and use it for something else. I'm hoping Megan and I will get along. She's nice and friendly. Her personality appeals to me. Because the trip from school to our house takes around 30 minutes, I decided to rest since I'm feeling tired. I closed my eyes and sat back in my seat. I'm planning on taking a nap. "Madame Athena, We've already here." I awoke from my nap when I heard Roger's voice wake me up. I noticed we were already at the garage when I peeked out the car window. We must have just arrived at our residence. "Thank you so much, Roger!" Before getting out of the car, I thanked him. Because the door was closed, I rang the doorbell and waited for someone to open it. "Oh! Good afternoon, Athena. How's it going on your first day? "Manang Teresita was the one who opened the door for me. "Hello, Manang!" As I walked into the house, I said, "It was fine." "That's great. Do you want to eat right now?" She said. "I'll just rest for a while, take a quick shower, and then come back here to eat," I said, smiling. "Okay. Go ahead and do it. While you clean yourself, I'll make your food," Manang remarked as she made her way to the kitchen. On the other hand, I rush to my room to freshen up. As soon as I walked into my room, I placed my bag on my couch. I'll put it on one of my closet shelves later. In the meantime, I'll leave it there since I'll go over my notes to see what requirements I have to meet for each subject. After sitting on my bed for around 5 minutes, just scrolling through my social media accounts. I took a shower. Before I go downstairs, I just put on some comfortable clothes. I went to the dining table and saw that food was already there. Manang Teresita entered the room before I could even sit in my chair. She placed a glass and a pitcher of orange juice on the table and said, "You can now start eating, Athena." She poured the juice into my glass as well. "Manang, thank you!" As I sat on my chair, I muttered. "By the way, Athena. Your mom has informed me that she will be unable to come back home tonight. She had a last-minute meeting in Manila," she explained. That isn't something new to me. Mom would have emergency meetings regularly. Despite my wanting to be with her, I cannot do so because the company needs her. "Ah, I see. Thank you so much, Manang! "I thanked her and sat down to eat. I'm a little sleepy, so I eat as quickly as I can. After eating, I went upstairs. I quickly threw my body on my bed as soon as I entered my room. I was ready to close my eyes when the incident at the Cafeteria came to me. Markus didn't return to class after our lunch break, which I noticed. I'm curious as to where he went. His friends appeared to be clueless as well. Since Markus was not around, some of our classmates discussed what had happened. I didn't bother to listen because Markus' behavior occupied my thoughts. I'm also interested in knowing more about the girl mentioned earlier. Margarette is Markus' ex-girlfriend if I understand correctly. I think the reason I'm seeing loneliness in his eyes is because of their breakup. He must be head over heels in love with her. On the other hand, if the girl who admired Markus was correct in her judgment that his ex-girlfriend had left her for someone else, then the breakup was good for their relationship. No one deserves to be taken advantage of. I'm at a loss as to why individuals cheat. If you're already unhappy with your partner, my solution is to communicate rather than to cheat. That is something that no one should have to go through. It's terrible. It will make them feel not good enough, and no one wants to be in a position where they question their worth as a person. Although I haven't been there, I am aware of how my mother suffered. She had so much faith and love for my father that she never imagined him doing it. Mom will occasionally have a breakdown and blame herself for what has happened, and she will apologize to me because our family is no longer complete. Every time this happened, I would remind Mom that it wasn't her fault; it was my father's responsibility since he decided to cheat. He's the one who tore the family apart. When my phone rang, I snapped out of my thoughts. I looked at it and saw that it was Mom, so I instantly answered it. I said, "Hey, Mom." "Hello, sweetheart. I'm sorry if I am unable to come home tonight. I had to attend a last-minute meeting," she explained. "Don't worry, Mom. It'll be fine. Just remember to eat and rest." I tell her since, with so much work, she frequently forgets to eat on time and get enough sleep. "Yes. Thank you very much! Don't worry; I'll take note of it. Anyway, how's it going for you on your first day? "It was good, Mom," I replied "That's awesome! I'll call you again the next day. Sweetie, I love you!" she said, which made me smile. "I love you, Mom! Keep in mind to eat and sleep, okay?' I reminded her once again. After that, I hung up. I don't know what got into me, but I happened to be standing where she said yes to me.
