I landed with a thud on the ground Waylon and I so stunned he actually dropped me. “Oh god baby I’m so sorry here let me.” And he grabbed my hands and pulled me to him wiping dirt off my ass I complained of the pain in my butt cheeks and smacked his arm half joking half seriously wanting to deck him.
“This way please.” The voice behind us said again. When we came out from behind the tree there was a man dressed in a plain navy shirt and jeans holding an old kerosene lantern and gesturing with his hand back towards the camp.
“Sure I guess,” I mumbled and we started walking. “I’m not finished with you,” I said under my breath but loud enough I heard Waylon chuckle and his arm wrapped around my waist and held me to him tightly as we walked together.
“Echo my dear!” Mikhail stood arms outstretched towards us in front of a massive bonfire secluded from the camp but still within the boundaries. Across the flames I saw my Aunt, Uncle and I counted five unfamiliar faces staring at me stoic. I shifted nervously from one foot to another. “How lovely you all could join us, I hear there are things you and your family want to talk about? There will be plenty of time for that how is everything going? How have you been doing with mastering your elements?” He seemed so eager.
“Its going ok, I have three down pretty well fire is giving me some trouble but it hasn’t been long so I’m not worried.”
“Echo sweetie we talked to him about all of it,” my Aunt interjected and I realized that meant everyone around us knew I sent a beam of light from my body so strong it shook the house when I had an orgasm. My cheeks flushed scarlet and I looked down at my feet again.
“As I said all in good time, I’ve set aside some time for us all to sit and talk tomorrow before the rituals begin at dusk my footman will find you a he did today,” Mikhail continued unfazed, “The reason I brought you here was for a favor,” he gestured to the other coven elders and said, “I was wondering if you could show the rest of our council what you are capable of, please.”
Oh god, this would be my first time purposefully trying to use my full range of powers in front of anyone besides Athen and Waylon and I could feel my palms begin to sweat. I looked towards the rest of the camp about a quarter mile away and they seemed to notice because Mikhail said, “don’t worry may dear we have cast a protection spell around us no one will see or feel your display I made sure to take precautions before having you brought over.” Instantly I relaxed.
“Ok, if you’d all step back,” I said and walked a few paces away from everyone. I took some time to breathe and think about what I wanted to do, no pressure.
“When ever you’re ready, just relax,” my Uncle Arthur said and my Aunt next to him gave me a reassuring smile.
I closed my eyes and brought my hands out to my sides palms facing the sky, I listened to the crackling of the fire and felt the cool breeze on my face. I heard whispers in my ear suddenly, I tried to decipher what they were saying but I could not before they stopped and as they did all of my nerves disappeared and my eyes flew open as if I already knew what I was going to do. I crossed my hands over my chest and threw them back at my sides causing wind to erupt around me, I was enclosed in a small cyclone but I was never afraid. I bent down slightly and my fingers beckoned the earth beneath me to move, I brought dirt and dust and rocks up from my feet and they too began to spin. I sat there for a few seconds concentrating and I threw my hands up above my head to the sky and as if I was pulling it down with my very fingers rain drops began to fall in a peculiar pattern, they were only in my circle of magic. Lastly, I hesitated a moment remembering how this had gone the last handful of times I attempted to use all four of my powers at once, it was time for fire. I inhaled through my nose and slowly out through my mouth and my eyes focused on the bonfire in front of me. My eyes grew wide and I sent my hands towards the blaze facing each other as if I were holding a sphere and I willed it to be so, the sparks began and as I pushed them with my very being I willed them to grow to embers and then with a final push I had flames. I sat there reveling in my triumph and I don’t know exactly what came over me but I started to pull my hands apart and I don’t even know what came over me no one had ever shown me this type of magic before my instincts just took hold and when my hands came back to my side I used all my strength and I stopped my cyclone and was able to pull all four elements apart and left them swirling in front of me. I had four spheres of water, earth, fire and air floating before me and at last I threw my hands up once more and they disappeared. I felt feint, I started to sway and I fell.
When I woke I was laying in Waylons arms with my aunt and uncle by his side and the council surrounding them with worried looks on their faces. They whispered to themselves and each other but it was Mikhail who was the first to speak. “See just as I told you she’s fine everyone this type of magic is very draining as some of us know but just imagine she can wield them ALL as we can only manipulate a few it’s exponentially harder. Now lets us give her some air as we have things to discuss before we send the Whittens off to bed. But do you see?” He turned to face the rest of the elder council and the began to talk amongst themselves. I look up at Waylon.
He kissed my forehead and whispered to only me, “You are absolutely magnificent have I ever told you that?’’
I chuckled and said, “No but it’s nice you could stand to do it more.”
“Let’s not make this a habit though ok? You losing consciousness every time you go all warrior witch is stressful baby.”
I smiled and he helped me to my feet. We walked over and stood before the Elders waiting for their questions.
A pretty older woman with straw colored hair that was wavy down to her waist said, “Ms Delaney?”
I nodded “Please call me Echo.”
“Echo,” she nodded, “is all of the prophecy true then? You can control all elements and you found you fated partner?’’ They all seemed to lean forward a little in their chairs awaiting my answer.
“Well…” I began, “When I moved in with the Whittens we found there was a connection between me and Athen, Callen, and Waylon all different but strong in their own ways. I spent the last few months training and learning about my powers, about my past, the prophecy, and exploring the way I felt about the boys. In the end I chose Waylon.”
“And how do you know that he is the correct choice?” Said a gentleman next to Mikhail he was dark skinned with amazing raven hair swirling on top of his head like a kitchen mixing bowl.
“I guess I don’t,” I hesitated a moment and continued, “I realized if I thought about it for too long I could find reasons to be with or reject each of them but I listened to myself my heart my body and my mind and they told me it was him, it was Waylon.” Waylon wrapped his hand around my hip and gave it a squeeze I looked up at him and smiled.
“I mean no offense young lady but this isn’t decision that should be taken lightly you do understand all of our fates depend on you making the correct decision do you not?” I felt Waylon tense and I grabbed his hand and rubbed my fingers along his palm to calm him. “You can’t just pick a boy based on your teenage hormones, if you chose wrong you could doom us all!”
“HEY!” Waylon stepped forward and his mother and father joined me in holding him back and began trying to get him to stay quiet.
“See! Look! You think HE is the one that will help you bring perfect balance to all of magic?” At the raven haired man scoffed and sat back in his seat and crossed his legs.
“Hold on there for a moment Cacius, we didn’t ask Echo here this evening to fight let us table this and think on it and reconvene tomorrow after the first day of devotion displays shall we?” Mikhail got up and raised his hands I’m guessing lowering the protection barriers. “Go now, rest we will talk on this and we will see you tomorrow.”
My Marg grabbed my hand and led us back to our cabin, no one said much we got ready for bed and I sat at the small table downstairs with my head in my hands for a bit thinking. This was my decision… wasn’t it?
