As I went to the guest bedroom to change out of my swim trunks, I can't stop thinking about Brandy. I'm so jealous that Queen Cassidy had no problem getting the human she's interested in to accept her. Why can't my own mate accept me?
"Will you stop that? I can sense your self-pity from the next room over." Gabby's voice calls out in my mind. "You wouldn't understand! Your mate is a wolf! I shouted back, instantly feeling bad for yelling at my best friend.
She didn't reply, so I knew that meant one thing. A loud knock is heard on the bedroom door, just as I expected. Unlocking the knob, I let her in. "Sorry, I'm just so frustrated!" I exclaim a bit dramatically as I toss myself face down onto the bed.
I feel her sit on the bed and she begins to pet my hair back like a dog. "X
