CHAPTER XIV
Monday morning, the busiest day of the week. While there was a mad scramble of people on the roads going to their places of work, the men and women of the Nigerian Police Force were already hard at work. In the main hall of the department building where the rookies had their work stations, files, documents and papers of all sorts were being passed around, many were writing, and others typing. One bleary eyed young man with a cup of coffee on his table dozed for a few seconds and had the misfortune of catching the eyes of Chief Rikau who was on his way to the elevator.
“My friend, will you sit up!” he roared, rounding on the poor fellow who nearly jumped out of his skin, upsetting his cup of coffee in the process. He had the confused look of someone just waking up.
