CHAPTER SEVENTEEN Jovanna watched the elves from the vantage of a small hill. The sun was setting but still burned brightly, causing her to sweat more than she cared to. Velent and his warriors were in similar positions along the hilltop. The enemy appeared to be finishing setting up their camp and preparing to settle in for the night. Jovanna had seen many war camps in her time, and this one was no different. Tents made of animal hides were sprawled out in all directions. At one of them, several elves were being tattooed by some elders. Another tent served as the meal area and had a small line of elves gathered.
