Chapter 11Merry madness—the only way to describe that last day of school before the holidays. I’d grown to tolerate Moorefield. Thom wasn’t bothering me anymore, and Craig was my first friend ever—I hoped. Stodgy, English Moorefield was no different from any other school the day before Christmas vacation. Guys tested the dress code with tinsel and garlands draped around their necks like winter scarves. Elf hats were everywhere in this no-hats school. Tupperwared treats were gobbled and shared. “Deck the Halls” and other carols were massacred loudly—sometimes mangled with not-so-Christian words. The carolers laughed their heads off.
