Celene’s POV
Run.
That was the only thought in my head as I slowly backed away, my pulse crashing violently against my ribs.
“RUN? Don’t you dare, you psycho,” my wolf snarled, furious and sharp, but I ignored her. I didn’t care about her rage, her madness, or her obsession. I needed to leave before everything shattered beyond repair, before the truth swallowed me whole.
I can’t be pregnant.
Not with his child.
Not with the Alpha’s child.
Not with my sister’s husband’s child.
“And our fated mate,” my wolf added viciously, twisting the knife deeper and I clenched my jaw. He doesn’t belong to me anymore.
Laughter and celebration echoed behind me, loud enough to mask my escape. They were still cheering, still congratulating her, and still lost in their joy. If I moved now, no one would notice. No one would stop me.
I whispered a silent apology to my sister, tears burning my eyes. I’m sorry. I’ll come back once I fix this.
My fingers brushed the door handle and I pulled it open as gently as I could, about to sprint towards my former world when suddenly a hand clamped around my wrist.
I froze and the world tilted.
A deep voice cut through me. “Why is the scent of my pup coming from you?”
My knees nearly gave out as I turned slowly, forcing a smile that felt brittle on my lips, tugging weakly at his grip. “Alpha… you’re mistaken.”
A lie.
"A useless one." My wolf added.
His brow arched, dark eyes sharpening. He didn’t release me, instead, he stepped closer, crowding my space, his palm spreading firmly against my stomach and his eyes flared, gold, red burning and lethal.
“MY.PUP. IS. IN. YOUR. WOMB,” he said slowly, and deliberately, each word striking me hard. “And that is not a mistake.”
My wolf exploded, power surged through me, wild and furious, tearing free from its cage. The air thickened instantly and Kyle growled low in his chest and leaned into me, despite my instinct to shrink away.
“Mate,” he breathed.
His face buried in my hair, breath brushed my skin and his tongue traced my neck, slow and possessive. I shoved weakly at his chest, panic and heat colliding inside me, but my body betrayed me completely, arching, trembling, and responding to the bond screaming between us.
This shouldn’t be happening, this can’t be happening.
But my wolf refused to listen, she surged harder, louder, and flooded the space with dominance. Kyle’s grip tightened and he inhaled me deeply, over and over, muttering words I couldn’t understand...mate, pup, mine...his control was slipping with every breath.
My heart hammered painfully because I felt eyes on us. Too many eyes.
Kyle pulled me into a crushing embrace, still scenting me, still lost and that was when I looked towards my sister's direction, my heart broke again.
The shock on her face was devastating and everything flickered at once. Around us, guards and servants dropped to their knees, forced down by the overwhelming Alpha pressure pouring from both of us.
My wolf laughed darkly inside my head. “Look at her,” she snarled. “I like that expression. You’re back now. And everything that was taken from you should be returned.”
I felt trapped, his scent swallowed everything, thick and intoxicating, wrapping around my throat until breathing hurt.
Serena still stood frozen a few steps away, her eyes wide, her lips parted like she was trying to scream but couldn’t find the sound. Hurt flashed across her face, raw and unguarded followed by disbelief so sharp it cut straight through me.
My chest caved in.
“Kyle…” I whispered, tears spilling freely now. “Please. Look at her. You’re hurting her. Let me go.”
I tried to pull away, twisting in his grip, my hands pushing uselessly at his chest but he didn’t budge but instead, my wolf surged.
Heat poured off me in waves, my scent exploding into the air screaming fertile, dominant, and claiming. I felt it even as I cried, the betrayal of my own body making my stomach twist.
“Cry if you want,” my wolf laughed darkly inside my head. “But don’t f*****g pretend you don’t feel it. He’s ours. He should be holding tighter and marking us, we are his soul mate, the rightful Alpha Luna of this pack.”
Kyle sucked in a sharp breath as my scent spiked more.
“f**k,” he growled, his voice low and rough. “Stop that. You’re going to make me lose it.”
“I’m not doing anything!” I sobbed. “This isn’t what I want...”
“That’s a lie,” he cut in coldly, tightening his grip. “Your body doesn’t lie, your scent doesn't lie.”
I shook my head frantically. “I'm sorry, I really don't have control over my wolf. Please let go. You’re married. She’s my sister. This is wrong.”
His voice dropped, dangerously calm. “Wrong doesn’t erase instinct.”
And before I could react, pain exploded through my shoulder and I screamed as his fangs pierced my skin, not deep enough to claim, but hard enough to mark intent. The shock ripped through me, my legs gave out instantly, and my strength drained so fast I couldn’t even scream again.
My wolf roared in triumph. “Yes. Mark her. Let everyone know who she belongs to.”
The world tilted violently as weakness hit me.
“Celene!” Serena screamed, rushing forward. “Don’t you dare leave me again!”
Her voice was the last thing I heard before darkness swallowed me whole and I wonder why she still cares.
---
When I woke, everything felt wrong.
My body was heavy, weak, aching in places I didn’t want to think about. The air smelled of healing herbs and clean linens and my shoulder throbbed beneath thick bandages and I wondered why I hadn't healed from his bite.
Turning, I saw Serena sat beside the bed and my chest tightened in pain.
Her hands were clasped tightly in her lap, knuckles white. When she saw my eyes open, she sucked in a shaky breath and grabbed my hand like she was afraid I’d vanish again.
“Thank the goddess,” she whispered. “You scared me.”
My throat tightened instantly as memories flooded my brain, “I’m sorry,” I said hoarsely. “I didn’t know. I swear I didn’t. It was just a meaningless mistake with a stranger. I never would’ve...”
She shook her head quickly, brushing my hair back with trembling fingers. “It’s fine. Kyle explained everything. Fate is cruel sometimes. This isn’t your fault.”
Her forgiveness burned worse than her anger ever could have and it was killing me so badly cause I don't know what to say. How could she accept it so easily? Was this a dream or my hallucination?
“I am really sorry. I didn’t know,” I said quietly, forcing the words out. My voice was steady, even if my chest burned. “I swear it. That night meant nothing. I didn’t even know who he was.”
Her grip tightened slightly, possessive in a way that made my skin crawl.
“I am not mad, my love,” she said quickly. “I swear it.”
I stared at the ceiling, jaw clenched, “I came back to apologize,” I continued, my tone firm now. “For running. For abandoning my duty when I was supposed to become Alpha. I never came to take anything from you.”
She leaned forward then and wrapped her arms around me, holding me tightly. “You’re forgiven,” she whispered. “You’re still my sister.”
I let her hug me but I didn’t return it and suddenly the door opened and the room went cold as Kyle stepped inside.
He didn’t look at Serena. His gaze locked on me immediately, sharp and assessing, like I was both a threat and a prize. I didn’t see remorse or apology but just ownership burning behind his eyes.
“I never planned this,” I said, meeting his stare head‑on. “I didn’t come back to cause chaos. I’ll leave again if I have to.”
Silence stretched but I continued, “I’ll erase the problem,” I added calmly. “I’ll leave the pack and terminate the pregnancy. No scandal. No damage to her reputation and I will never come back here.”
Serena stiffened beside me, disenging from me and Kyle let out a low humorless wrong laugh.
“You don’t get to decide that,” he said coldly and my wolf snarled, rising instantly.
I sat up straighter, Alpha aura bleeding into the room despite my exhaustion. “I decide what happens to my body,” I said, my voice low and steady. “And this...” I gestured to my stomach, jaw clenched. “was a mistake.”
He growled and stepped closer, each movement deliberate, and controlled, his aura slammed outward, crashing into mine like he was challenging me.
“My heir,” he said slowly, eyes darkening to something feral, “is not a mistake.”
He leaned down just enough that his breath brushed my face. “And it will not be aborted,” he continued coldly. “Not today. Not ever. Not even if you beg.”
The word heir echoed in my skull.
Serena’s grip tightened painfully on my arm, her composure cracking as panic seeped into her voice. “Kyle, stop...please...this isn’t the time...”
“No.”
He didn’t even look at her.
“This ends now,” he snapped. “I’ve tolerated her running. I’ve tolerated her guilt. I will not tolerate this.”
His gaze locked back onto me, sharp and merciless.
“You ran once,” he said quietly. “You won’t run again. Not with my blood growing inside you.”
My wolf laughed inside my head, low and vicious. “He’s claiming,” she purred. “Let him. He should. He's ours and they all know it.”
The weight of it settled into my bones and it wasn’t about guilt anymore.
I understood that this wasn’t a discussion, or concern, it wasn’t even about the child, this was about ownership and control.
And Kyle had made one fatal mistake, he thought he was speaking to a broken woman.
He forgot that I am an Alpha Luna.
And no one, no mate, no Alpha, no throne gets to take my obedience by force... Well, at least not without blood.
