Chapter 9 After a quick stop at Frank’s place in Decatur for a change of clothes, they drove the back roads to downtown. Dawn kissed the tops of the taller buildings as they passed the familiar gold lions and pulled into the hotel’s parking circle. Yvonne handed her keys to a valet and they walked inside. Horace slumped in an overstuffed chair, feet kicked out and hat pulled low over his eyes. Frank had to shake him pretty good before he finally stirred. “’Bout time,” he said, jaws cracking in a huge yawn. The three friends trooped over to a long counter, the heavy gym bag bumping against Frank’s legs. He paid cash for two rooms for the night.
