Chapter 14 The stars twinkled and moonbeams kissed the landscape as Frank drove back toward North Druid Hills and his tiny, battered, threadbare office. He couldn’t wait to get there, to where things were familiar and made sense. Yvonne sat beside him, quiet and thoughtful, staring ahead without really seeing the road. Horace sat in the rear, leaned up against the door with his legs stretched across the seat. He wasn’t saying much either. As for Frank himself, he wished he could start a conversation. About the weather, the abysmal year the Braves were having, the price of sushi…anything to shut his own whirling thoughts down, at least for a little while. The only sounds were tires on the road, cars passing by, the air-conditioned breeze. The truth was, Frank hadn’t been a leg-breaker
