Chapter Eight ScarIt was a bright spring day in 1770. The woods along the Ohio River were green and lush with the luxuriant growth of April. Oaks and maples had put forth their leaves only weeks before, and the lime green of the new growth added an otherworldly luminescence to the scene. Jonathan and Joshua Hershberger crept silently through the thick growth, crawling flat on their bellies. They held their long rifles pointed ahead.
