Brynne noticed how I kept looking at the hacienda, so he gave an offer I can never turn down. After we had lunch, he took me to the hacienda to watch the horses closer. It was fascinating, nothing less than fascinating.
Aubrey and the others decided to chill at the Student's Park, a place where students usually stay to have conversation or just enjoy the view.
"They must have been here few times that they're not amazed anymore by this breathtaking view." It was my first time seeing this, and I admit that this looks another place here in the campus.
One of the horses has white shinny skin, it really stood out because of the sun.
"That's Connemara breed. She's imported from US." He knew I was staring at the white one.
"Stallion is a horse, if I'm not mistaken it's where the school name was derived. Do you know the history?" I asked him.
We are now sitting in a bench under a mango tree. This spot is perfect for sightseeing. There are also some students walking around, maybe just enjoying the breeze.
"All I knew was the sons of the owner were really fond of horse racing, one of them even represented the country for polo. If I'm not mistaken, the founder is Sir Kale's uncle." So weird I keep hearing his name.
"Must be great to be born with everything." I whispered. This world can never be fair, that's how everything appears to be balance.
"You think so? That's not the case for everyone. Many students here are pressured to be successful or to follow the steps of their parents. We are all walking with the fear of disappointment from the people around." He answered seriously. I stared at him for a moment.
"Are you also afraid to disappoint your parents? Are they controlling?" His lips flinched in amusement.
"I think all parents have expectations from their kids. I'm just lucky that mine would let me choose what I want to be. When I told them I wanted to be an engineer, they were supportive and willing to give me all the support. Maybe, it's me who thinks that I should be successful no matter what." I nodded. I think that's how parents are.
"I'm afraid to disappoint them, so I try everyday. I give it my all. Afterall, I have high expectations from me too. Being at our age is hard, we don't know what we will be in the future." I understand that part.
I took a deep sigh. We are so young to be this serious in life. But it always feels like if we slack off, we might miss the important turns.
"You'll make it for sure. Whatever you decide to be, you can become. I see how persistent you are. Also, humble and honest. It's hard for me to trust men, but you got me to trust you on the first night we met." I smiled at him. The way he blushed was cute.
"But I don't feel anything special towards you. I don't want to give you any expectation." Those eyes of his hold plenty of questions for me. I just love how careful he is.
"W-we already agreed to be friends for now. I want to learn everything you went through to be this confident, Laurian. You just scream confidence, really astounding."
"Enough with the compliments."
We are 15 minutes late to our first class that afternoon. And guess who's the professor? It's Kale.
"Have a seat." His voice was hoarse and dangerous. Aubrey was already in the room when I arrived.
"What else did you do? What took you so long? Did you make out?" I gave her look to shut up.
Kale gave a lecture about a new topic. He looked irritated while discussing. What a sudden change of mood. He was calm when we saw him at the restaurant.
Everyone was fussing when he announced a surprise quiz. He's not bothered by the reaction of the class.
I can't stop myself from rolling my eyes when he sat arrogantly at the chair in front. He scrolled through his iPad as if looking for the quiz.
"I need everybody to be silent in 30 seconds. If you don't want to take the quiz, you are free to leave the room." In an instant, the noise faded.
I was watching him when he looked up and right away met my eyes. He tilted his head and took a deep sigh before speaking in a commanding tone.
"Just so you know, I won't be lenient and tolerate your rudeness." He stopped. "From now on until the end of semester, you are free to leave the room when you don't feel like taking the test." I assumed that's for the whole class even though he's looking only at me while delivering that message.
"Hot but a psycho." Aubrey was on point. Is he old enough to get high blood from such petty things? I rolled my eyes again, I don't care if he saw me.
We kept locking eyes, so I decided to just stared down at my paper. 5 minutes before the class ends, I turned in my paper. My knees were trembling when I walked the distance between my seat and him.
He conceitedly gestured me to out the paper at the table. He looked really sexy for Pete's sake! His perfume was hugging me when I took the last step to put my paper on the table.
"Don't be late in my class again." My jaw dropped. I almost cursed when he said that like he was begging. His eyes were agitated, but his voice was begging.
"Noted." I answered.
