Chapter 5 - Secrecy

After all my classes that day, I went to the Student Council Office. I think I left my wallet in Brynne's car. I already went during lunch, but he's not in the office.

"Is Brynne inside?" I asked one of the students in couch.

That room is ice cold. There are few students lounging in the student area and some having a conversation at the other side. Needless to say, everything in that office just seem expensive.

"Yup, you can just go to his table." I thanked the girl who answered my question. Hopefully, I left it at his car. Although I did not have cash in that wallet, all my credit cards and other IDs are in there.

I saw him sitting in the swiver chair, and infront of him is a man sitting comfortably - even that guy is facing the other side, I know that it's Kale.

What is he doing here?

"Hi, Laurian. What brought you here?" His eyes glowed when he asked that. I smiled too just at the same moment Kale turned to look at me.

"Ahm, did I perhaps leave my wallet in your car?"

"Yes! I forgot to give--- I mean I didn't have your number, so I couldn't tell you that you left it. I'll get it for you now." He immediately stood.

"I'll go with you." I said.

"It's a long walk to the parking lot then you'll exit to the other side of the campus. You can just want for me here." He smiled at me and even offered his seat.

"I can sit here. Thanks." I instantly regretted my decision. My knees are like inches away from Kale's. I can smell his manly perfume again.

"Sorry, Sir Kale. I'll be back as quick as possible."

"Take your time." He answered calmly.

Our space was filled with akward silence. I acted like I'm busy scrolling through my phone, but I can feel his stare.

"I was also heading the same way as Brynne's. You declined my offer then gladly accepted his infront of me." His voice was soft even he sounded jealous.

"I didn't mean to offend you." That's all i can say as I stared back at him.

"I was offended, but it's fine." My forehead furrowed.

"You must be used to taking your students home. But I'm not like them, so I won't apologize of your ego is fraying." He gabe me a singular laugh then he leaned towards me.

Our knees touched, but he didn't seem to care. I can smell his perfume better now that he's near. It was suffocating that I felt I was holding my breath.

"You are actually the first woman I offered to take home, and I got flat rejected." I tried to calm myself. I shouldn't give meaning to any of this.

I looked to ome corner of that room just so I can avoid his eyes.

"Right now, you sound like a playboy rather than a professor."

"It's because I like you." My jaw dropped. Did I hear that corectly? Right now, my heart totally lost it. My face is heated for some reason. Is it because of our knees touching or because of what he just said? Maybe because I find his scent sexy or his hoarse voice or just his eyes looking dark at me.

"I am not interested. Let's forget we ever talked about that." My response was almost a whisper.

"It's fine with me, Laurian. I can wait until you're in legal age. I just want to express how I feel about you, so at least next time you're in a situation to choose between me and another guy, you'll be considerate."

I took a deep sigh. He's unbelievable.

" All those girls obsessing over you... " I did not get to finish what I'm saying.

"None of them matter to me. I also can't understand why it's you. But you instigate intimidation... something I never felt before. Damn." He cursed, he did swiftly.

"We can resume with this conversation next time, Laurian. I just don't want it here in Brynne's office. I'm reminded of what happened last Friday. You can wait for him here, tell him that I got something more important to do." I bite my lower lip when he smiled for the last time before walking out.

I touched my face only to confirm that it is really hot. Did he notice I was affected by every word he said? Oh no! I should avoid him! I can't be involved in anything romantic with a professor. That will just ruin me. No way.
