The dragon’s voice echoed within Mina’s mind. She stood still, frozen in place. For some unfathomable reason, she’d envisioned this entire situation going differently. The dragon shifted his bulk and slithered around to fully face her, his hot breath washing over her like the heat from a fire.
Why do you stalk me? Do you seek death at the claws of a dragon?
While terror kept her physically rooted in place, Mina was able to push through the fear mentally. She could feel a plethora of emotions coming from the dragon, all of them swirling together. The one that stood out the most was curiosity. It smelled sweet, reminding Mina of strawberries, with subtle notes of honey and mint.
