Mina whirled around, her heart dropping into her stomach, but relief washed over her when she saw it was Kera.
“I was looking for … them,” Mina said.
“Who?”
“The lord and lady who reside here.”
Kera folded her arms and stared at Mina. “What for?”
“That’s not your concern,” Mina replied.
“Spoken like one of the nobles. If you were really looking for them, you’d know they are with Lord Klodian right now. So, do you want to tell me what you are doing in here, or should I let Lord Klodian know you’re riffling through his court member’s personal effects?”
Mina decided to bluff.
“Lord Klodian already knows what I’m doing. He sent me here.”
Kera’s suspicious demeanor faltered. “He did?”
Mina nodded.
“Why didn’t you just say that?”
“I was told to keep quiet about it. Court politics.
