Mina arrived back at Klodian Keep just as the sun was descending. She dismounted Tempest and led the horse to the stable. Aram was still working, and when he saw her, he took the reins from her and led the animal inside.
“I was beginning to get worried,” he said.
“You were worried about me?”
“No, I was worried about Tempest. Once the gates close at dark, there’s no getting in. I didn’t want her being stuck out in the elements all night.”
“I wouldn’t let that happen,” Mina replied. “And even if it did, I would take care of her.”
“Be that as it may, I would like all of my horses accounted for before nightfall. I don’t ask questions of anyone, but if you can’t abide by my rules, I’ll have to inform Lord Klodian about your ventures outside the castle. Where do you go, anyway?”
