After Caden had relayed what little he remembered about the attack, Lord D’Lance and Commander Morin left him to rest. A healer approached his bed, smiling warmly. She was dressed in white robes and had striking blue eyes.
“How are you feeling?” she asked.
“My head is pounding,” he replied.
“You do have some head trauma. And you were also burned. It’s a miracle you even survived, let alone were able to make it back to the castle.”
Caden was surprised by her words. He’d felt rough, but he hadn’t thought that his injuries should have killed him. He considered himself lucky.
“I’ve got a salve that will help with the burn, but it’s going to cause you some pain when I apply it.”
“I think I can handle it.”
