“I thought Lord Klodian was the one in danger?” Thais asked.
“He is, too, but Lord Burgess was part of a bigger plot.”
“Was?” Thais’s face paled. “Is he dead?”
“No,” Mina shook her head. She didn’t know how to explain things without revealing everything that had happened with Copper. She wished Caden was here, but there was no changing that now. She would have to trust Thais, as much as it went against her instincts.
“I want you to swear that you won’t repeat what I’m about to tell you.”
“Won’t repeat it to who?”
“Anyone. This stays between us.”
Thais eyed her distrustfully. “Did you kill someone?”
“Don’t be absurd. Just promise me before I change my mind. I’m offering to trust you with something.”
“You don’t have to be dramatic. I won’t say anything.”
