Tristan held his briefcase and was arranging his files into them. His back faced me as I walked into the home office.
I hugged him from behind, resting my head on his back like the ladies in the movies I had watched did to their lovers.
“You’re being too clingy. If you continue acting this way, I’ll be forced to stay back.”
“I’d love that, but that’ll make me an enemy of your progress and I don’t want that.” I pulled apart from him and stood in front of him.
“Seriously?” He rolled his eyes and closed the briefcase. “I’ll be leaving soon with Kye, though he’ll be back sooner since he doesn’t have a lot to do.” He held my hands. “Charlotte would like to come stay here for a while; she’ll be bored, and due to her pregnancy, she claims to need a lot of assistance from a friend and you’re a perfect person to keep her company. So… if you don’t mind, can she stay here with you?”
“Of course I don’t mind. I’d be so glad. Charlotte is an amazing person to be with.” I grinned.
“Okay then! I’ll call her.” He slipped his phone out of his pants pocket. “Rob!” He called and Rob scurried in. “Please take this along with my luggage.” He said, pointing to the briefcase.
“Okay, sir.” Rob replied with a polite bow and grabbed the briefcase, leaving the room.
Tristan proceeded to call Kye. “Hey… be here in a giffy. And yes, she agreed for Charlotte to stay with her.”
Charlotte’s squeal sounded from the phone then Tristan hung up. He didn’t even let me speak to them.
“That’s it. Expect Charlotte soon.” He grabbed a key from the table and handed it over to me.
“What’s this for?”
“This room is really precious to me: it has a lot of my important files and many of my secrets. Normally, I’d lock it up as always, but I can trust you now, so you’re the only one with access to this place while I’m gone. This is the key to this room, it'll be in your custody.” He explained.
“What if I get tempted and read your diary again?”
He leaned closer. “We’re married. I don’t think there should be any secrets between a husband and a wife; you now have access to all my secrets. Even if you read my diary, I promise not to be mad at you, but it’s at your own risk.” He smirked, “Reading my diary is like unfolding my mind. I bet you don’t want to know what’s going on in this head.”
Hearing that made me feel really bad that he was playing a perfect role as the husband and was willing to let me know all of his secrets, but I wasn’t being the perfect wife. I wish I could tell him everything, I really wished I could.
“Let’s head downstairs. The car is waiting.” He snapped me out of my thoughts and grabbed my hand.
“I’m sorry, Tristan.” I uttered, not audible enough for him to hear me or so I thought.
“It’s fine. Don’t feel bad, I completely understand you.” I was really shocked to know he heard me. Was he a wizard as well as being extremely sexy?
“Here, my tie. You’ll put that on for me.” He passed his tie to me.
“Has Tristan Shane Hendrix suddenly forgotten how to knot his tie?” I lifted my eyebrows at him, smiling.
“No. Maybe it’s just because I’ll miss your touch.” His electric blues eyes glistened with a hint I couldn’t figure out, with his lips quirked to a lopsided grin.
“What’s with that look?” I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.
“I just remembered my dream. I had an extremely crazy dream about you. You’re driving me nuts, in a good way.” That sinister look was still plastered on his face once again.
“What dream? How am I driving you nuts?” I tucked the key into my jeans pocket, dropped his tie on the table, then wrapped my arms around his neck.
Slightly brushing his lips against my ear, he whispered, “many ways, darling. Many ways…”
Something about his tone made a shiver run down my spine, stiffening my body.
“I’ll lay a few rules down: Ensure you don’t dress so sexily while I’m not around, don't cook for anyone if you're not at work, don't be over-stressed, don't hesitate to use my credit card to buy anything at all, make sure no man flirt with you —even though that isn’t entirely possible.” He sighed, gazing into my Hazel eyes. “Is it strange that I already miss you?”
“I don't think it’s strange because I feel the same way.”
He leaned his head forward to give me a short kiss. “There are so many things I want us to do together when I return. I want to travel around the world with you; I want to spend a night with you at the roof of a skyscraper where we can enjoy the view of a beach, the beautiful stars and moon. So many more things.” A smile crawled up his lips. “I don't know why, but I have the feeling that it’ll be a new and awesome start to another stage of our marriage when I return.”
“Really? I’ll warm myself up for this new stage.” I chuckled.
“You should. By the way, I’ll make sure I call you every day and night. Be a good woman while I’m gone, okay?”
“I’ll try my absolute best.” I laughed, unwrapping my arms from around his neck.
“And I’ll definitely miss your cooking.” He whined.
“I cooked something for you and packaged it properly for you to enjoy during your flight. It can last for a few hours before it becomes useless. Moreover, there’ll definitely be better cooks than me.”
“I doubt.” He pouted.
“Aw, Tristan pouts too. That’s cute.” I giggled. “I love this side of you more than anything else in this world.”
“You’re the only one that has and will ever witness this sweet side of me. I’ll have to return to looking so scary now that I won’t be with you.”
“Please don’t get used to that.” I pleaded. “I’ll definitely die if you come back and return to the old grumpy Tristan towards me.”
“That won't happen. I’ve made myself a promise that I'll always be the sweetest person to you. Do you think I enjoy being so authoritative at all times with everyone being scared of me? Not smiling at all? Of course, it’s great when it’s to other people, but there has to be at least one person that sees the real Tristan, the real Tristan that just needs to be truly loved and understood.”
“Wow. The ruthless billionaire is such a poor little child on the inside, and I’m lucky enough to know this side of him—”
“Only you, darling.”
“Only me?!” I gasped dramatically.
He turned me around, wrapped his arms around my waist and planted a kiss on the crook of my neck. “Yes. Only you. I’ll also miss your beautiful skin.” He planted more kisses on my neck and cheek.
I shut my eyes, letting the tingling feeling of his kiss sink deep into my soul. Heaven knew how much I was going to miss this feeling.
“Before I leave, what’s a favor you want from me?” He asked and twirled me to have my face to him, tucking a few strands of my hair that escaped from my ponytail to the back of my ear.
“One thing?” My face was lit up with a wide smile.
“Please don’t make me regret asking. What’s with that wicked smile?” He widened his eyes.
I burst into laughter at his facial expression. “Wicked? I promise my request is simple. I just—”
I was cut off by a knock on the door.
“I’m sorry for interrupting.” Rob apologized, maintaining a bold pose. “Mr. Gage is here and demands for you to be downstairs as soon as possible.”
Tristan waved a hand at him dismissively, then he took his leave.
“Let’s head downstairs.” He said and intertwined our fingers.
After I grabbed his tie, we headed downstairs, sending a mental note to myself to remind Tristan of the favor he owed me.
“You’re here sooner than I expected.” Tristan said to Kye, who was speaking with Indy, and let go of my hand.
“Yup. Let’s leave immediately.” Kye rose to his feet. “Hi, Hazel.” He walked up to me and pulled me into a friendly hug.
“Gosh, man.” Tristan growled and gently pulled me from the hug.
“I’m not taking her away. Stop being so jealous.” Kye rolled his eyes at him.
“I’m not being jealous. She just has to help me with my tie. You can leave now, I’ll meet you in the car.” Tristan held my waist, pulling me closer to him. “My tie.”
“Overpossessive much.” Kye gruffed.
Was it weird that I was blushing like crazy internally due to the fact that he was being so possessive of me. My internals were bouncing in joy at his clinginess, though I wasn't sure if it was normal.
I placed the tie around his neck and wore it for him. “There. It’s perfect.”
“When did you forget how to knot your own tie, Tristan?” Kye smirked.
“Shut up.”
“You really just want her to hold you. Isn’t that so sweet?” He burst into laughter.
“Shut up!”
“Then you’ll hold her waist and be so possessive of her—”
“Kye, are you trying to torment Tristan for something he has done to you?” I chuckled.
“He’s just jealous. Ignore him, he’s an idiot.” Tristan said and connected our lips for a kiss.
My eyes widened in shock. I definitely wasn’t expecting him to kiss him, and not in front of people.
Ignoring the feeling around me, I embraced the goosebumps that spread across my skin as I swam in the pleasure of his wondrous lips movement.
Remembering that it was going to be our last kiss till a few weeks later, I wounded an arm around his neck, holding the back of his head to pull it closer, deepening the kiss.
The kiss lasted for a while, my stomach had twisted into knots, his grip on my waist had become tighter! it didn’t seem like this was going to end anytime soon.
“Okay, I can’t take this. I’m so jealous and miss Charlotte already. Stop this.” Kye broke our kiss, ruining the entire moment.
“We should get going.” Tristan said, letting go of me.
“I’ll follow you to the airport.” I asserted.
“No, no, no. You claim to be tired, you should rest now. I can’t let you stress yourself.” He planted a kiss on my forehead. “Bye, Hazel.”
“Who knew Tristan could be so in love and romantic?” Kye teased.
“Let’s get going.” He replied with a roll of his eyes.
“So… I need to know many more things.” Kye said, curling his arm around Tristan’s shoulders as they walked out of the house.
I expected Tristan to push him away but they just walked out like that.
“Bye, Tristan!” Nikita yelled. I didn’t even realize she was leaning against the end corner of the living room, sipping something from a cup with a straw.
Tristan and Kye definitely didn’t hear her because they didn’t return.
I was holding back the tears that tempted to roll down my face as I gazed at the door. I knew I was going to miss him so much; I had grown too attached to cuddling him to sleep, waking up in his embrace, being around him, his romantic side…
“There’s no need for words of explanation anymore.” Indy said, reminding me of her presence.
“Uh?” I lifted an eyebrow at her.
“Nevermind. I’ll head to Nikita’s room.” She said, poker-faced, and took her leave.

“What the heck do you want?!” I barked.
“Oh, so you have the guts to yell at me now?” Aunt Mandy smirked, chuckling in an extremely evil manner as she flicked a bishop off the chessboard in front of her and rose to her feet.
“Why? Just tell me why?” My fists were clenched with deep fury burning in my veins.
“You have no right to come to my house and yell at me, you nasty thing.” She walked towards me with her hands locked behind her.
“Why do you want to ruin my life? Haven’t you destroyed me enough? How can you be my Aunt? Are you even truly related to me?” I was holding back every form of tears that threatened to fall. My frustration was almost at its peak at this point.
“No, sweetheart. Don't say such a thing,” she smirked, dusting her jacket, “we're related and will forever be. Hence, we are bound together, no matter what.”
“I’m married to Tristan now, my life is starting afresh. Please, don’t ruin it once again, please! Stop causing problems in my life. Can’t you just let me be?! Can’t you just let us part ways forever and forget that we ever existed to each other?”
She stared at me blankly before bursting into an incessant laughter.
“Mandy Evan, I promise you’ll see the worst of me if you don’t stay away. Stop trying to ruin my life any further!” I hollered.
My tone made her laughter stop and nothing but absolute shock could be read on her face. “Do you think I’m scared of you? What sort of stupid threat would work on me?”
“I’m warning you, Mandy. You’ll regret it if you don’t listen to me. Keep living your miserable life, but not with me.” I grabbed my purse and turned around, storming away.
“And how about Giovanni?”
My feet froze at her question. I quickly pivoted to her. “Giovanni? How— how— what— how did you… No, no, no. Holy s**t! Not you again.”
