“Will you make breakfast this morning?” Mike asked, strolling into the kitchen and poured himself a glass of water.
“Yes, I’m obviously doing that already.” I grinned.
“For everyone?”
“Yes.”
“Including the boss?”
“Yes.”
I arranged the ingredients for the meal I was going to prepare on the counter while Mike leaned against it, not saying anything.
I had decided to make a quick meal so it didn’t waste my time because I had to head to work. Gosh, I missed going to the bakery so much.
I placed the pot on fire then left to do other things while waiting for the meal.
After a few minutes, I called for a man I assumed was a worker here.
“Good morning and welcome back, ma’am.” He greeted.
“Good morning to you too. Do you perhaps know where Tristan is? I haven’t seen him all morning.”
“He was in the gym previously but now he’s in his bedroom.”
“Okay, please call him over. Tell him to be downstairs in five minutes.”
“Okay, ma’am.” He bowed again then took his leave.
Returning to the kitchen, I was surprised to see Mike in the same position I had left him, surprised that he was remaining silent and looking gloomy.
“What’s wrong with you— Oh, breakfast is ready!”
“Nothing is wrong with me.” His tone didn’t convince me at all but I didn’t press on. I had cooked for Tristan and I was certain he wasn’t going to throw it away.
I spent the next few minutes finalizing the meal and served it.
Mike cleared his throat, drawing my attention to him. “So… uh… your relationship with the… uh… the boss… h-how is…”
“Hazel?” Tristan called.
My stomach bubbled with excitement as Tristan walked into the kitchen, looking extremely hot in his grey Chino pants and a white button-down shirt with two of its top buttons undone to show off his chest. The fact that he had his suit coat hanging over his shoulder just added to his sexy appearance.
He had a very unfriendly face on as he sauntered to me.
“Good morning, sir.” Mike greeted him but Tristan didn’t bother to respond; Mike took his leave immediately.
“What’s with the face?”
“What face?”
“What face? Never mind. I made breakfast.”
The corner of his lips twitched to a short smile and the frigidness in his face left.
I served his meal on the plate, eager to know what he thought of my cooking.
“Hopefully, you won’t let all my hard work go to waste by making it shatter to the floor like the last time.”
He laughed shortly, “I was trying so hard to stay away from you but you weren’t helping it so I got angry. I think I’m sorry?”
“You think?”
He nodded, taking a spoonful from his plate and his eyes widened. “Mom would be so jealous!”
I giggled.
He continued eating like he hadn’t eaten anything in a really long time. “I’ve had many classic and expensive foods but this is perfect. You’re so cruel; how can you be my wife and let me miss this?”
“Are you kidding me?” I burst into laughter.
~ TRISTAN ~
I had just had the best meal of my life and had been chatting with Hazel in the living room.
“Aren’t you going to the office anymore?”
I knew I was late for work but I felt like spending more time with her. Since I had apologized to her, I had been feeling an even stronger attraction towards her. It felt like something new was born within me, my feelings towards her seemed to be growing every second. She's sweet, beautiful, not as bad as I had thought. The fact that it had only been a misunderstanding between us and her being distant from me for a week made me feel like I needed her more. Her touch was like fire, her voice was like music to my ears…
I was growing closer to her and always jealous when other men were around her. This wasn’t me, something new had been born in me and I could feel it.
“I am.” I replied to her question.
“You’ll be late.”
“I’m the boss, I can go whenever I want.”
“Well, I’m not the boss of my bakery and I have to leave now.” She rose from the couch.
“You can’t leave now.” I frowned, holding her wrist.
“Why not?” She lifted an eyebrow at me.
“You’re coming with me.”
“Coming with you?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“I’ve never introduced you to the company since we’ve been married. Everyone should know their boss’ wife. Go upstairs, wear something really fancy and let’s get going.”
“Then if I get fired from the bakery?” She raised an eyebrow.
“You can’t be fired, baby.” I smirked. Baby? Did I seriously just call her that?
She gave me a strange look before taking her leave.
I felt much more relieved that she was coming with me. I could work properly without wondering what she was doing at the moment or stopping to stare at the few pictures I had of her, like I had always been doing.
I slipped my phone out of my pants pocket and started scrolling through it to answer business-related emails I could answer in the meantime.
After a while and Hazel still wasn’t back, I got up from the couch and used the elevator to convey me to our bedroom floor, then walked to our bedroom door, pushing it open.
Hazel was standing in front of the dressing mirror with her bare back completely exposed while she tried to pull the zipper of her elegant grey off-shoulder, body-hugging, knee-length dress, upwards.
I quietly locked the door and strutted to her.
She glanced at me, frowning a bit. “Help me out with it, please.” She let out a frustrated sigh, turning her back to me.
“You should always learn how to lock the door, what if someone else that wasn’t me walked in.
“At least I’m not naked.”
Not naked?
I held the zipper of her dress, slowly pulling it upwards, loving the feeling of my hands stylishly grazing her skin.
The way I felt while being around Hazel was one of the most puzzling things in my life. I had never felt really attracted to anyone this much in my entire life, it was like a magnetic attraction and the rate at which it increased scared me.
“You have very beautiful skin. I love it.” I commented.
“Thank you.” She replied, reaching for the hair straightener.
I wounded an arm around her waist from behind, holding her to stop her from reaching for the straightener, whispering into her ear, “I prefer your hair in its normal form.”
“Really?”
“Yes.” I drew my lips closer to her ear, lowering it to her neck.
I had been feeling the need to kiss her recently, but surprisingly, I had been very nervous to ask her for one. I had only kissed her a few times but each time felt heavenly.
“I have a request.” I whispered again. “I need a kiss, it’s been on my mind lately.” Being so close to her was making my entire body feel strange— like I could swallow her up at once.
“You don’t kiss someone that’s only a friend.” She said—more like whispered.
It suddenly felt like sense was slapped back into my head as I quickly let go of her, trying to regain my composure. “Oh… uh… sorry.” I scratched my neck.
I couldn’t let lust override my feelings. A kiss right now and with the way I was feeling was going to make me want something more than a kiss. I was intoxicated by her body but still needed my feelings to develop first before anything.
“Leave your hair the way it is, I prefer it.” I repeated, shoving my hand into my front pocket.
She turned to me, tilting her head. “I will.”

~ HAZEL ~
My phone was ringing unremittingly, disturbing my earbuds.
Anyway, a phone conversation was going to end my current state of boredom.
Tristan had asked me to come with him but then, he had been so busy and didn’t even have time for me. I was beyond bored and frustrated.
Answering the call from an unknown number, I placed the phone to my ear. “Hello?”
“Hello, baby. Did you miss me?” A deep masculine voice said from the other end of the line.
