Fuse
I covered the woman’s breasts with her torn shirt, then removed some of the shrapnel from her side with my fingers. I told Moore to bandage the wound as soon as he finished tying off the artery. There was trauma to the left side of her head, which I moved to see the other side.
“Great God in Heaven!” I cried. “Kabilis,” I yelled over the noise of incoming artillery.
“What is it?” Kabilis shouted from across the room.
“Come here!”
“Do you not see me sewing this man up?”
“Come here, NOW!”
Kabilis dropped his needle and motioned for another man to take over.
“Check the stomach wounds,” I said as I hurried to cut off the trousers and get a better look at her upper thigh.
