Journal Entry 2

1003 Words
June 2nd, 2085 To say the least. Today was insane. Ezekiel briefly described what our work would be like moving forward, like nothing new was happening. Like we werent all pulled into the city. It seemed like no one questioned why there were walls or a dome! After the briefing he pulled me and told me about what was going on. Apparently, we've entered an apocalypse? I suppose the reason no one is questioning what's happening is because their minds were potentially wiped. I wonder how many are truly aware. I know Ezekiel left my mind alone. How many others minds remember what it was like outside? Until I find out i'll just have to keep working. There's a practice at a small base outside of the dome in a month. It's to test our nanobots indestructibility and compatability with humans. These nanobots were invented to hopefully make an outer shell like an exoskeleton. If you were to get injured they were meant to identify the problem and help fix the issue internally or externally. They have worked on a small scale level. So the only logical next step is to see it on a large scale level. Then clinical trials. Then...of course mass production. Since entering "the dome", it seemed like internet and social media was wiped clear and at a hard reset. I noticed that anything related to the past way of living was completely wiped and replaced with a fabrication. Popular travel vlogs were seemingly wiped off the platform, or just had their travel content removed leaving home vlogs. Even talking to other people. They seem to think we were always here. It just confirmed, people's memories were wiped and altered. Besides the memory wipe, everyone seemed normal. Except one thing, their trauma readings were elevated. Their body's are holding a trauma they can't even process. In the long run it could be detrimental or their body's could resolve the trauma by itself. Because they are unaware of the trauma there is a higher chance it could resolve itself. At the end if the day things are different and will remain different until further notice. who knows when we will go back to normal. I have a dinner with Ezekiel soon. I should wrap this up and get ready. Alex set down his pen and walked to the balcony. He peered over the side to see people walking around minding their buisness like any other day. A knock was heard at the door he assumed it was Ezekiel, and walked over. He peers through the door hole too see his friend standing there, also looking through the peep hold. Alex jumped a little. He unlocked his door and let his friend in. "Come on man don't scare me like that!" Alex started laughing when Ezekiel just shrugged and laughed at him. "I wanted to see if you could see through the peep hole. I wanted to see how private your room was. You ready?" He motioned to leave. "I am pretty sure I'm secure here. There's guards in the outside of the building and a passcode to get in, as well as a security system. I assume that if a person was to get through all that though it's nice to know they couldn't just look into the room. Thanks, I guess." Alex gives the thank you with a hint of sarcasm. "No problem, but I'm being serious. You never know. Despite only being here a day, even with a mind wipe there are already radicals forming. These people by some weird anomaly have fragments of memory outside the walls. This is what we will discuss tonight. So far they aren't dangerous, and we can write them off as looney for the time being. We can alow them to roam and form. But the second they become dangerous we will step in. There is hopes that they will eventually just disband after people tell them it's a figment of their imagination." Ezekiel seems slightly concerned. "I hope things don't escalate to something more." He clicks the button to the elevator to enter. As we get in and head to the bottom I ask, "What would we do to them if they do?" " For now, so I don't ruin your appetite let's skip that topic and talk about our main topic. 'What if said radical gets into the buolding?' You should report to me. That's all." He sighs defeated as they walk out of the elevator and out the doors. They walk in silence till they get into a large van. "Ezekiel, you've been really cryptic to me lately. We are friends. You can tell me. Or you could memory share with me? If it's too hard. You just seem different." Alex is sincere about his words and this calms Ezekiel more. "I will when the time is right. For now, let's just eat." Ezekiel grimly smiles. Alex let's the conversation go. "Hey, I promise okay?" "What ever," Alex sighs "I'll belive you when you send over your memory fragments." Ezekiel let's out a tsk and looks out the window. "So in a month we start our testing. Knowing it will be a success, I want you to take some with you. I want you to use some on yourself, but I also want you to dump a portion onto the public. Things are going to start happening here eventually, but I can't tell you about it yet. In time. Oh, look. We are here!" Before Alex can say a word, Ezekiel gets out of the vehicle and walks into the restaurant. Alex hurries behind. They have a nice meal, Ezekiel refrains from talking about anything related to what they discussed on the way there. After they finished Ezekiel refused to talk more about it after. He dropped Alex off at the apartment and just told him he'd see him at work tomorrow. "What have I gotten into?" Alex asks himself under his breath as he goes into his apartment.
