Diana’s POV
I got ready and decided to check on the forensics report on the blood soaked cloth I had given them the other day. Velibor decided to stay back with Amy. I was not a good situation to leave her alone like this, especially when the killer was around.
I got into the car with Sam as we decided to drive to the forensics office.
I have studied a lot of serial killer cases and in most of them the crimes are random and not motive oriented. But, as per Amy’s testimony, I feel like he had a specific reason to put the dead body in the cafe where she could see it and then he knocked her off.
The man Amy saw was not a familiar face. So why would this guy go through all the pain to bring the dead body and then terrify the victim and just knock her off and then keep her tormented by sending disgusting gift boxes.
“The ride is awfully silent”, Said Sam as he smiled at me while driving.
“...hun? Oh! I’m sorry, I’m just wondering”, I said as I looked into his gorgeous blue eyes.
“Yeah?”, He said.
“Um… I was wondering if you think this is strange as well”, I said.
He raised his eye brow waiting for me to speak.
“You know, normally serial killers are four types based on the type of crime they commit which are thrill seekers, mission-oriented, visionary killers, and power/control seekers.
This guy has not revealed a single detail about his crimes, not a single evidence on the type of his personality. He does a crime for enjoyment and terrorizes others but, he doesn’t want to be discovered or get the attention. He leaves no messages all he does is terrorize his victims. Also, he doesn’t seem to be influenced by power. Well, he’s a killer he could do anything, he could go after money or power but, he just doesn’t fit in that way.
It’s only making it hard to put him in any of the categories.
Although, I do feel that this guy could be a thrill seeker. According to this book...
‘Thrill seekers are serial killers that see outsmarting the law as some sort of amusement. They enjoy attention from the media and they also enjoy being pursued by the police. They can be distinguished from other serial killers because of the fact that they send messages to others and they keep detailed records of their killings. Because of this, it is logical to say that most thrill seekers can be categorized as organized, but at the same time they do not always plan everything out in advance. For that, they are also seen as unorganized killers. Thrills seekers typically use weapons and/or rape their victims before killing them. After that, they hide the victim's corpse and they move on to their next victim, that is, unless of course they are caught in the act of doing so’….” I said as I put my view before Sam.
“Well, this guy does fit in that category but, I feel this won’t be that easy”, He said.
I guess I was starting to understand why.
Sam and I reached the forensics office and I was called in to collect the report on the piece of cloth I had submitted. It was a real shock when I read the report.
The Blood sample was a human match but, the traces of potassium in the sample were high.
“Diana, I think the person whose blood traces were analyzed could be dead as his potassium levels were way too high.” Said Dr. Anna, the forensic department’s specialist and a very good friend of mine.
I looked at her as I couldn’t believe that this was true. There was a pattern to this man’s killings which meant, he would kill one and make the other witness it.
“Also, I found artificial blood in the traces. This subject is still being studied and I don’t understand how a complex thing such as artificial blood be made outside the laboratory”, Said Anna.
“Anna, I don’t understand, why is that unusual?”, I asked.
“Well, the blood in our body does a lot of functions, but, in cases where there is no donor, artificial blood was made to perform one function of carrying oxygen and carbon dioxide. Well, researchers are still trying to find ways to make artificial blood perform more functions but it’s advantages are still a topic of debate”, She said.
“You see, in the blood traces that you found, the potassium levels were high, but, what puzzles me is that the artificial blood traces which carry only oxygen and carbon dioxide also had traces of potassium which is not common to be found as this subject is still being studied”, Said Anna.
“There could be a high chance that this person was deliberately given high levels of potassium and then the artificial blood was injected in him to counter the reaction caused by potassium. These reactions can be induced but, can also be made to look like natural death”, She said.
I was completely out of my mind. I was under the impression that this person could have just killed him but, this psycho is up with some serious psychological problems to have tortured the person before killing him and making it look like natural death?
I walked out of the hospital and saw Sam standing right before me. He had a file in his hand as he looked at me.
“This man is very dangerous, he can kill people while making it look like a natural death but, he has had the victims witness it. This is some sick kind of game he is playing. He probably enjoys watching his victims being terrorized as he kills someone. The blood traces had potassium in it. The chemical for causing heart attacks. He could be doing this just to make sure that if the body is discovered the cause of death be declared as a natural one”, I said as I threw the file in the car.
“Well, I’ve found something too” Said Sam as he handed me the file he was holding.
“The first victim has decided to speak. She wants to meet us in person but chooses to remain hidden and not attract any kind of attention”, Said Sam.
“What? that’s great! We’ve got to meet her”, I said
“Only, there is one problem. She’s being threatened. Check the file”, He said.
I opened the file to see a letter cut out from the newspaper. It read the story of little red riding hood.
“He’s been watching us”, I said as I looked up to Sam with terror in my eyes.
