Alina’s POV
"You must be Mason." She said smiling as Mason nodded shyly holding my dress tighter.
"I'm Deborah your grandma". She said and her voice shook a little as she was about to cry.
She looked at me before going down to his level.
"Can I get a hug?". She asked sweetly. Mason looked at me. When I nodded he smiled shyly and walked slowly into her arms as she picked him up and hugged him tightly. "I have a grandson." She sighed. "My first and only one." She pulled away and kissed his cheek.
"What a handsome young man you are."
She sniffed a little and gasped. "Oh my God! Look at me just talking to you guys outside. Come on in." She said excitedly as she started walking with Mason in her arms.
A squeal was heard and Cathy, Ethan’s sister ran up to me and hugged me along with Jake, his younger brother.
The one he thought I was having an affair with.
"How have you been? Alina you just disappeared.
Mom and I looked for you." She gasped hugging me tighter.
"We have so much catching up to do Alina." Cathy said excitedly. "You look beautiful." She said excitedly and I laughed a little.
"I missed you too." I smiled as she pulled away from me.
"Now, where is Mason?" She asked before looking behind me.
Her smile brightened as she moved around me and toward Deborah and Mason.
"Now I have someone who will call me auntie Cathy." She smiled grabbing Mason's hand.
"Hi."
"Hi." Mason replied before looking at me.
Deborah put him down and he came to me grabbing my hand.
I turned and saw Jake walking closer with a smile.
"It's good to see you again." He said walking toward me.
I smiled warmly at him.
"You too. I almost missed you." I laughed and hugged him.
He gasped and faked hurt but still hugged me back.
"I'm sorry for everything." He said as I pulled away.
I shook my head.
"It wasn't your fault. You were also a victim." I said smiling.
"I just hope things will stay the same between us."
He said hopefuly. "I missed your annoying ass around here." I laughed and placed my hand on my chest.
I don't think we will be as close as we were before but I still care for him the way I did in the past.
Things are just different now.
"You know you missed me."
"What ever floats your boat." He laughed.
Someone cleared their throat. We turned around to see Ethan and Bryan, his father walking toward us.
I looked down at Mason who smiled at Ethan.
"How is my little man?" Ethan asked and Mason let go of my hand running into Ethan open arms.
"You didn't call today, daddy." He said as Ethan stood up with him in his arms.
"I had a meeting, but I knew I was going to see you tonight."
My eyes moved to Bryan who was looking at Mason warmly with a smile on his face. He turned to me.
"Alina." He said and walked closer to me.
He was angry at me too five years ago. He was hot headed like Ethan. He never really said what he thought, but he didn't defend me either.
"I'm sorry sunshine". He said with a sad face and I gulped.
Sunshine.
He used to call me that because he said I was giving warmth and light in his and Ethan’s life.
He grabbed both of my hands in his. "I'm so sorry.
I was wrong. We were wrong."
I looked at Mason swallowing back the tears threatening to escape before looking at him with a soft smile.
"It's in the past now". I said and he smiled back kissing both of my hands.
He then turned back to Ethan and Mason before going to them. He stopped and said a few words to Mason making him jump into his arms.
"Sorry, Ethan. Now I'm stealing your son's attention from you."
Ethan just shook his head before he looked my way and started moving closer until he stood right in front of me.
"How are you?" He asked.
I opened my mouth to answer but the front door opened and closed interrupting.
"Hello family!" Lucas, Ethan’s cousin, said loudly joining us.
"Hello Lucas." Bryan said boringly, his eyes never leaving Mason.
He was talking about something with Mason. I don't know what, but he seemed really focused.
"Who do we have here?" Lucas said getting closer and smirking at me. "Alina." He gasped still smirking before pulling me into a hug making me gasp in surprise.
I felt Ethan grab my arm and Mason's loud voice.
"Don't touch my mommy!" He yelled running up to us and tried to push him off.
Ethan picked him with a proud smile on his face.
"He is defenitly a Knight". Bryan said laughing as Deborah rolled her eyes playfully.
"Mommy?" Lucas repeated with a confused look on his face. "What is going in here?". He said looking at Ethan then Mason and realisation hit him.
"You were pregnant?". He asked looking at me in shock.
"Everyone. Dinner is ready." Deborah announced."
I looked back at Lucas again looking at Mason with a lost expression.
What the hell in going on with him? Is he this shocked?
After the dinner, Mason and Bryan were having a chat again. I wanted to go home and Mason didn't look ready.
It was the first time he was meeting them. I couldn't just ruin this moment for him so I decided to stay a little bit longer.
How can I forgive them this fast?
I just know that I have to do the right thing for Mason. He needs his family. He needs to know them.
But how did they discover the truth? I don't even think it matters right now.
And most importantly who tried to destroy our lives? And Why?
I was in the balcony before all I needed was some air after dinner.
I jumped a little when I felt something being placed over my shoulders. I turned to see Ethan standing next to me. I looked at his coat and tried to take it off but he kept it in place.
I huffed and just gave up.
