Liam slowly rose from the bed. His hand shook slightly as he grabbed his shirt. The room felt heavy. The air was thick with tension, anger, and hurt. Sky’s eyes burned like fire. She stared at him and Carie, her fists clenching tight. “You b***h!” she screamed, her voice trembling with rage. Before anyone could react, she lunged at Carie. She grabbed a handful of Carie’s hair. Carie struggled, pulling back, but Sky’s grip was strong. She slapped Carie hard, again and again. “You gold digger! You dirty slut! You think you can sleep with a man to get a better life?” Her voice echoed, raw and full of hatred. Carie’s eyes flared with anger, but also fear. She turned to Liam. Her voice shook. “Say something!” she shouted, her hands raised helplessly. Liam did nothing. He didn’t even look at her. His face was cold, distant, empty. He pulled on his shirt and walked to the door. His shoulders were stiff. His mind was blank. To him, Carie was nothing. Just a woman trying to climb her way up. Nothing more. Sky’s eyes followed him. Disbelief turned into fury. How could he leave her to deal with this? Her fists tightened. She went back to Carie, swinging with all the anger she had. “You slut!” Sky roared. Carie tried to speak, but her voice broke. “I… I can’t explain what happened yesterday! I never wanted this to happen!” Sky froze for a moment, then laughed bitterly. Her eyes were dark. “Never wanted this to happen? You shouldn’t have opened your disgusting legs then!” She yanked Carie’s hair again. Carie cried out in pain, until she realized there was no point in arguing. Sky was too angry. She was blinded by emotion. Carie pushed Sky back as hard as she could. Sky stumbled. She lost her balance. She slipped and hit her hand over a glass filled with red wine. It’s spilled over her white dress making a bigger mess of her day. She gasped. Her face was shocked, betrayed, as if the world had turned against her. Carie’s hands shook. Tears ran down her cheeks. “I… I’m sorry, madam,” she whispered. She bowed quickly and ran out of the room. The hallway was bright and luxurious, Carie stepped out. Her chest tightened. Her heart raced. She was just about to leave. But then—flash! Another flash! Cameras went off around her. Reporters pushed closer. “Mr. Liam,” a voice called sharply. “There’s a rumor you have a secret girlfriend. People say she’s the reason for the recent project changes. You’ve said you hate relationships. Does this mean you’re ready?” Liam’s eyes darkened. He turned slowly. His gaze pierced through the crowd. “I don’t know why you came all this way. But it’s not what you think. My private life is none of your business.” Their eyes fell on Carie as soon as she stepped out of the room. Reporters surged forward, microphones and cameras shoved at Carie. “Miss! Is it true you are Liam Salvador’s secret girlfriend? Were you in that hotel room together?” Carie’s knees went weak. Her lips parted. “I… I…” The flashes blinded her. She kept looking at Liam, as if he could save her from this nightmare. Liam stepped closer. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders. Whispers ran through the crowd. The air felt electric. His presence seemed to stop the chaos. “What is private should stay private,” he said calmly. His voice was smooth and commanding. He guided Carie through the crowd. They reached his car. He shut the door firmly behind them. Carie’s chest heaved. Her fingers clutched the seat as Liam drove off. The city lights blurred past. Her mind raced. Were they being followed? She kept looking back. Did anyone notice the fight with sky? The car stopped suddenly in the middle of a deserted road. Liam’s hand slammed on the gear shift. “Get out!” His voice was sharp, harsh, no room for argument. Carie froze. “What?” she whispered. He turned to her. His face was shadowed. His eyes dark. “I said… get out!” Carie jolted up out of shock from his scream. Fear twisted her stomach. She left as quickly as she could.the scorching sun hit her face. She hugged herself tight. Liam sped off with a care in the world. She stood alone at the deserted road. Her heart pounded. Her hands trembled. She clenched them into fists. She shivered in fear at every Vehicle speeding up past her. Her phone buzzed. She glanced at it and froze. An order cancellation. Liam had just canceled every order he made with them. Her heart ached painfully. Her breaths came shallow. It felt like the world had shifted beneath her feet. The journey back home was quiet. Too quiet. The streets were buzzed. The city went ahead with their daily activities. No one really care about her world that was shattering before her. She reached home. She pushed the door open. The smell of home did nothing to calm her. Her eyes were heavy with tears. “This is all my fault. How… how did it happen? How could I let it happen?” Her voice was a whisper, echoing through the empty house. She walked through the living room. Guilt weighed on her like a stone. Suddenly, a scream tore through the air. “Carie!” Kylie’s voice was high-pitched, frantic, full of joy. Before Carie could move, Kylie ran out of her room. She threw herself into Carie’s arms, almost knocking her down. “How did you do it?” Kylie shouted. Her voice was a mix of excitement and disbelief. Carie pulled back. She wiped a tear. “Do what?” “You’re all over the news! You’re the new Madam Salvador!” Joy was written all over her face. Carie face frowned. “What do you mean?” “A confirmed relationship with Liam Salvador, the most eligible bachelor in town!” Kylie’s eyes sparkled, she screamed. Carie’s chest tightened. She hugged Kylie weakly. Her mind spun. Kylie grabbed Carie’s phone. She scrolled through the news. Carie’s face went pale. It was true. She was everywhere. Her heart thudded painfully. Every headline, every picture screamed the truth: her life had changed forever. Kylie celebrated. But Carie felt only dread. Tears rolled down her cheeks. Every step reminded her of the lie she lived. People believed she was the woman Liam loved. They didn’t know the truth. Carie sank into the sofa. She trembled. She could still feel Sky’s anger, the humiliation, the flashing cameras chasing her like predators. Her phone vibrated again. Another cancellation. How could she tell them that he already has a girlfriend and she’s nothing but the second woman? Carie shook her head quickly, taking off the scary thoughts. Her lips trembled. A sob escaped. She whispered, almost inaudibly, “It’s only a matter of time… they’ll find out. They’ll see who I really am…” Kylie continued celebrating, unaware of the storm inside Carie. Carie felt trapped. Guilty. Terrified. Carie couldn’t describe her feelings but she was beyond scared. Liam’s anger was immense earlier and she dare not imag ine how’s he’s feeling now that the try has been twisted. But date had better plans for them
