Don't Leave

The rain poured harder. Within seconds, Isabella was soaked from head to toe. She didn't stop walking. Not once. Every step felt lighter... As though the chains around her heart were finally breaking. Three years. She had given Adrian Knight everything. Her love. Her youth. Her dreams. In return... He gave her a marriage no one knew existed. A home she could never call hers. And another woman wearing the title that should have belonged to her. A loud horn shattered her thoughts. Screech! A black Rolls-Royce stopped inches away. The rear window slowly rolled down. A pair of sharp gray eyes met hers. The man inside was devastatingly handsome. His black suit looked as though it had been tailored onto his body. He studied her silently. Then... "Get in." His voice was deep. Calm. Commanding. Isabella frowned. "I think you've mistaken me for someone else." "I never mistake people." His gaze lingered on the wedding ring she had just removed. "I've been looking for you." Her heartbeat skipped. "You know me?" "No." "But I know who you are." Before she could ask another question... His phone rang. The screen lit up with a single name. Adrian Knight. The man glanced at it. Rejected the call without hesitation. Isabella froze. "You know Adrian?" A faint smile crossed his lips. "Very well." "We've been enemies for years." Her fingers tightened around her handbag. She took a cautious step back. "Then this conversation is over." She turned to leave. The car door suddenly opened. The man stepped out. He towered over her. His presence alone made the air feel heavier. "My name is Damien Black." "I own Blackstone International." "And starting today..." "I'm interested in you." Isabella let out a dry laugh. "Is this some kind of joke?" "You don't even know me." "I know enough." His eyes remained fixed on hers. "I know Adrian Knight just divorced you." "I know he hid you for three years." "And I know..." His voice lowered. "He'll regret letting you go." A chill ran through her. How did this stranger know everything? Before she could respond... A familiar voice exploded behind them. "Isabella!" She turned. Adrian. He stood at the entrance of the building. His usually composed face was filled with anger. His gaze landed on Damien. Then on the distance between Damien and Isabella. Something inside him snapped. He strode toward them. Rain soaked his expensive suit, but he didn't seem to notice. His eyes locked on Isabella. "Come back." His voice was low. Firm. "You forgot something." She looked at him blankly. "I forgot nothing." "You forgot..." His jaw clenched. "...your place." The words hit like a slap. Damien's expression darkened instantly. He took one step forward. Positioning himself between them. His cold eyes met Adrian's. "You've already divorced her." "You no longer have the right to tell her where she belongs." The two most powerful businessmen in the country stood face to face. Neither willing to back down. Lightning split the sky. Adrian's voice turned icy. "Move." Damien smiled. "No." For the first time in years... Someone had stood against Adrian Knight. And it was his greatest rival.
