The Missing Prescription

The boardroom was deathly silent. No one spoke. No one even seemed to breathe. Adrian's voice was the first to break the silence. "What did you just say?" Lucas repeated carefully. "The doctor couldn't make a conclusion." "He only wrote that the possibility should be investigated." "He never accused anyone." "He simply believed..." "...that something in Miss Isabella's medical records didn't match." Damien looked at Lucas. "The original file." "Where is it?" Lucas's expression darkened. "It's gone." "What?" "The prescription page is missing." Edward slammed his cane against the floor. "Missing?" Lucas nodded. "The hospital archived every document." "But someone removed a single page." "The page listing every medication Miss Isabella received." Adrian's eyes turned icy. "When was it removed?" "Nobody knows." "It disappeared years ago." The room fell silent again. Someone had erased part of Isabella's medical history. But why? ... Meanwhile... Across the city. A woman wearing dark sunglasses sat inside a quiet café. She stirred her untouched coffee. Her phone buzzed. "Yes?" The caller spoke in a hurried whisper. "They've started looking into the hospital records." The woman's hand froze. "What did you say?" "They know about the missing prescription." Her expression hardened. "Destroy everything else." "What if they find the nurse?" "They won't." She ended the call. Then slowly removed her sunglasses. A cold smile appeared on her lips. "They're still too late." ... Back at Knight Group... The meeting finally ended. Shareholders quietly left the room. No one dared approach Adrian. No one knew what to say. He remained seated. Staring at the empty chair where Isabella had been. Edward walked over. "You finally understand." Adrian looked up. "What?" "The price of silence." "You believed every secret protected her." "But every secret became another wound." Adrian lowered his head. "I know." "No." Edward's voice became stern. "You've only just begun to understand." ... Outside... Damien and Isabella walked toward the parking lot. The afternoon breeze carried the scent of fresh rain. Neither of them spoke. Finally... Damien broke the silence. "Are you alright?" She smiled weakly. "I don't know." "My whole life keeps changing." He nodded. "I can't stop that." "But I can promise one thing." She looked at him. "You'll never face it alone again." The sincerity in his eyes caught her off guard. No promises. No grand declarations. Just quiet certainty. For the first time in years... She believed someone. ... That evening... Adrian unlocked the apartment he had once shared with Isabella. The lights remained off. Silence greeted him. He walked into the dining room. The table was empty. Yet he could almost see her there... Waiting. Smiling. Asking him if he wanted dinner. He slowly opened a kitchen cabinet. Inside... He found dozens of neatly labeled containers. Each one carried a handwritten note. Monday—Don't skip breakfast. Wednesday—Remember your stomach medicine. Friday—Your favorite soup. His hands began to shake. She had prepared everything. Weeks in advance. Even knowing... He rarely came home. He opened another drawer. Inside was a small notebook. Its cover was faded. He slowly flipped it open. The first page read: Things Adrian likes. The second. Foods he avoids. The third. Meetings he shouldn't forget. Every page... Was about him. Not a single page... Was about herself. A tear finally escaped his eye. He whispered into the empty apartment. "I'm sorry..." No one answered. Then... Something slipped from between the notebook's pages. A folded ultrasound appointment card. Date: Three years ago. Exactly one day before Isabella lost their baby. Adrian's knees nearly gave way. She had planned... To tell him.
