Vashty had never been inside one of the holding cells before she had been on the outside looking in plenty of times this was all new for her she wondered would the new incoming queen have mercy or make her an outcast. Vashty curled into a ball on the straw pallet that was in the cell. She remembered being alone as a child wandering hungry in the forest alone and without anyone to take pity on her. She didn't know her parents she had been alone all her life until this pack took her in and trained her to be the great warrior she had became and now she had thrown it all away and for what? She didn't even love Amual as a mate but he was family her only family and she didn't want him to be taken away from her then she would once again be truly alone. She willed herself not to cry but she felt broken and lost. Would he hate her and she should would lose him anyway? Would he come rescue her and they would run away and be outcast together? She smirked to herself not likely Amaul was far to level headed and logical for that sort of thing he hardly ever gave into impulsiveness that's what made him one of the better pack warriors he was known for his level headedness on the battlefield while Vashty was known for her strength it was also no secret she was impulsive by nature and that was one of her biggest downfalls it had almost cost her life a dozen times if her instincts hadn't been so honed she would have been dead a long time ago. That's why she was impressed that the would be queen could get to her jugular so quickly and efficiently Vashty hadn't seen that coming she had underestimated the incoming queen she was thankful she wasn't dead yet.
Vashty waited for what seemed like forever but she was soon escorted to the would be queens meeting room and she was placed in a chair and told to wait. She didn't have a long wait in swept the soon to be new queen looking like she had just stepped out of a photo shoot. She had clearly taken a bath and gotten dressed in an impressive ensemble that was meant to show how serious she was taking the matter.
Amaya sat opposite Vashty and watched the women silently. "You rejected Amaul correct?" Vashty opened her eyes wide she didn't know how this incoming queen knew such a thing but she wasn't going to lie. "Yes I did." "Why?" Amaya asked. Vashty looked down at her lap and spoke honestly the words she had never said out loud to anyone else. "I loved him as a brother. Even though he was my mate I chose me. I wanted to be a warrior. I wanted to rely on myself, I didn't want the mate bond to weaken me and make me into someone I wasn't. I didn't want to become a wife and mother. I wanted to fight for this pack and for myself." Vashty finished and kept her eyes on her hands. Amaya signaled for the attendants to bring them drinks and light refreshments. Amaya was not mad she was fair minded she had to access the root of the issue before she passed her punishments. "As incoming queen I can't let your attack on me go without punishment you have to know that right." Amaya said it as a statement. Vashty knew she had rushed in instead of letting a cooler head rule she had been foolish she knew it.
"Do you wish to make with Amaul?" Amaya asked Vashty Taken aback by this question Vashty looked the incoming queen in her eyes and saw a mixture of curiosity but no anger. Vashty sat and thought and she had to be honest with herself, Did she want Amaul as her mate? Was this more than a familial feeling? When she thought about mating with Amaul it made her sick to her stomach they were like brother and sister they might have childishly thought it was love when they were pups but the were older now and those feelings had matured into what they really should have been all along familial. Vashty smiled softly, "He's my brother. We're both orphans so we're all the family we've got." Amaya seemed satisfied with that answer. "Now as for your punishment You'll get guard duty from Twelve to twelve, you will have to move out of your warrior quarters, and you will have to pick a mate." Vashty was floored she knew it could be much worse in fact this was lientent compared to what she had been thinking of but she hadn't expected to have to pick a mate as part of her punishment.
"You're one of the top warriors in this pack I would be a fool to not know that much. You'll be on this schedule for a month at the end of this month I expect you to be mated. Also I would like you to train me in the art of fighting." Vashty was stunned, "You mean you don't know how to fight?" Amaya Smiled at her, "No not at all" Vashty was so stunned she didn't know what to do. "Will you train me?" Vashty shook her head yes. "Good" Amaya said getting up from the table. "After you finish eating you are free to go and I hope this little incident won't repeat itself." Amaya said. Vashty shook her head no. "Good. I look forward to our training sessions." Vashty smiled shyly at the incoming queen she was impressed and she got a good feeling from the incoming queen. Vashty watched Amaya as she left the room now that everything had been decided Vashty was starving as if they could read her mind a full meal was laid out before her and Vashty ate until she was stuffed. What a day she thought. She hoped that she hadn't messed up Amaul's chance at being a mate. She would hate herself forever if she had. She tried to reach out to Amual through pack telepathy but his mind was closed to her. He must be really mad she thought and just like that she was sad again.
She prayed to goddesses that she hadn't ruined Amaul's chances at love slowly she made her way out of the packs royal mansion and she went back to pack up her quarters she was going to be on her best behavior from now on. It was time she grew up and she knew it. She was going to change for the better and show the incoming queen that she could be trusted to have her back. Vashty had shamed her own self but she was determined to get back in formation she was a pack warrior and there was no I in pack.
