Amaya was overwhelmed she didn't know what to do the healer was attending to her grandmother and Amaya was pacing the floor. She didn't know what happened to her grandmother when she had tried to touch her grandmother she had gotten a nasty shock and she had dropped her grandmother's hand immediately. As she was pacing the floor the double doors to her grandmother's sitting room was thrown open and in stormed a strikingly powerful regal women who had the darkest eyes she had ever seen. It was like she could command thunder and lighting if she choose too. "You, there." Amaya stopped dead in her tracks and looked at the commanding women. "yeeess" she stuttered. "What happened I demand to know immediately." Amaya didn't know what to say until the woman looked her in her eyes prompting Amaya to start telling her what happened the moment her grandmother tried to search for her mother using her as a conduit. The women listened with great intensity then she breathed a long breath and stared off into space for what seem like an eternity. "It's very likely that someone put a blocking hex on your mother which resulted in my sister being blocked and pushed mentally." Amaya didn't know much about magic but she was bewildered that someone had those kinds of powers and that they could use them to such an extent.
Amaya was silent she didn't know what to say to this newfound great-aunt so she just stood where she was. "We haven't been formally introduced yet, I'm your grandmothers sister, thus making me your mothers aunt, and your great aunt, I'm Selita but you can call me aunt omay." Amaya bowed to her great aunt because she didn't know what else to do. "You'll be next in line for queen right?" She questioned. She then looked at Amaya's right hand and eyed the elaborate tattoo that was there. "Of course you are. All the eldest born are queens that's how its always been and that's how it will always be." She mused with a smirk on her face. Amaya ventured to ask her, "did you want to be queen?" Her great aunt eyed her with amusement, "Now why would I want the hassle of being queen? You have no idea the burden or responsibilities you will be forced to bear. Some days that crown will wear you to the bone but enough of that I don't want to frighten you before you even get close to your throne. I'm supposing you were in the middle of learning about your duties then? What have you accomplished thus far?" Amaya told her about the choosing ball and the possibility of rejection, she told her about meeting with the elders, wanting to meet her father, and then she stopped because she was up to the present.
Her aunt shook her head, "So you've barely even scratched the surface of what you need to know and learn." Just then the healers came into the sitting room. She bowed before Selita, "your grace." Selita acknowledge her, "So what is going on with my sister?" "Well she has been hit with a powerful spell, it's making it hard for her to wake from her slumber." "Is there anything that can be done?" "If she doesn't wake by tomorrow then there are somethings I can try but I'm hoping that this spell will dissipate it was strong but not cripplingly so it could have been much worse she could have been brain damaged, they just wanted to give her a nasty shock which they did." Amaya stood in silence taking it all in, she didn't know what else to do at this point. Her aunt dismissed the healer, "Thank you shyela, please send her ladies in waiting into to stay with her and keep watch through the night, if anything changes please send for me immediately." Shyela, bowed and took her leave. "Whomever has done this has a big disadvantage over us and that means they know about us, could be betrayers to the blood, could be old enemies, could be new enemies, could be anybody." Selita looked worn out. Turning to her great niece, "Unfortunately you will not have the luxury of learning how to be a queen the slow way. We have a powerful enemy and now that they have put my sister down we have to be on the ready which means you're going to have to get stronger and more powerful immediately."
Amaya didn't know if she should be scared, worried, frightened or just go with the flow. This was all new to her and she didn't know what to expect. Fortunately the decision was taken out of her hands. Her great aunt grabbed her and told her to come on. Selita moved quickly she took the old tunnels the ones her ancestors had made when times had been dark and they have needed to be able to escape quickly lest they be captured and killed, or worse tortured and turned into slaves. Selita pushed those thoughts to the back of her mind and she blocked out the weeping and wailing that was singing in her blood, she didn't have time to mourn and weep. Amaya kept pace with Selita that was the advantage of having long legs, long strides. Selita stepped into a cave that was lit emerald green. There was low chanting but Amaya couldn't tell where it was coming from she looked all around and couldn't pinpoint the voices so she let it be. It calmed her though and she felt at ease sleepy almost. Shaking her head to clear it she concentrated on her great aunt who had kneeled at the edge of the stone they had both been standing on. She took out a bejeweled dagger and she slit her palm with it and she let the blood drip into the water below the stone. "Great Ancestors hear my cry, we need thee." She then cut a lock of her hair and tossed it into the water, and then she began to speak in a language that Amaya didn't know but she sensed. Her aunt gestured for her to kneel, Amaya did.
"Great Ancestors give us mighty power and great wisdom." In moves so swift Amaya barely had time to register them her Great Aunt slit her throat and pushed her into the water below the stone. Amaya's mind couldn't register what her body was going through it had all happened so fast. She slowly sank into the green light beneath the stone and she closed her eyes. A searing light blinded her was she in heaven already? She just barely died she thought. As she opened her eyes she was standing in the middle of a cloud and sitting at tables as far as the eye could see were kin. Some dressed in tribal garments, some in modern clothes the farther she could see the more the clothes got simpler regal but understated. Many were decorated in jewels. Gold, Diamonds, Rubies, they were magnificent to behold. Amaya looked for a seat for herself she didn't see any empty. "child you are here because you need us we are decades of wisdom and knowledge you are not dead but you had to cross to our side to get what you needed." The man speaking to her was in an armani suit dapper distinguished older gentleman. "We don't have much time child you can not stay here long." With that he proceeded to call out people to come forth and stand in front of Amaya. "These are your ancestors every last one of them were queen before you, you need their knowledge and that is what you are here to get quickly child." With that every queen that was surrounding Amaya touched her and their essence flowed into her. She now felt different but still the same. She was ready to take on the world.
