Author’s POV

Adrian opened the door of the room where he has kept Hazel and his eyes fell on her small, fragile body.

He still can’t believe that this girl sitting in front of him has revived a dead person from death.

She was still sitting in the darkness. As soon as Hazel’s eyes fell on him, her breath got stuck in her throat.

He is standing at the door and the aura around him is just enough to make anyone bow their heads in front of him.

His powerful, strong and dominating aura demands respect.

She can’t see his face because of darkness in the room but she can still feel his burning gaze on her.

He started taking steady and slow steps in her direction and her heart started drumming loudly in her chest

He walked to the nightstand beside the bed and turned on the table lamp.

Her eyes closed shut because of sudden light after being in dark. And when she opened her eyes her breath hitched.

He was sitting on the edge of the bed, his intense gaze focused on her. The shock, confusion, wonder and curiosity all this emotions were clear in his eyes.

She swallowed hard feeling scared and anxious by the way he was looking at her.

“What are you?” he asked still staring at her in astonishment. She frowned at his choice of words.

“What do you mean?” She asked him, not liking the way he was looking at her.

“You can’t be a normal werewolf. So what are you? Are you possessed by something? Or are you a witch in the form of wolf?” he asked while tilting his head a little, looking at her with those curious green eyes.

“I am a normal omega she wolf” she replied and he instantly shook his head.

“That’s not possible. Normal werewolves can’t do, what you just did few hours ago?” he said without removing his gaze from her face.

She swallowed again, pushing herself into the headboard behind her, getting intimidated by his skeptical gaze.

“How is Princess Charlotte? Is she okay?” She asked to divert his attention.

After few seconds he nodded his head but didn't move his gaze.

“You might have already asked her about the attack right? So can you please let me go now” Hazel asked hopefully. He didn’t say anything and just sat there in silence.

“Alpha King…” She started but was cut off by him when he said, “She hasn’t gained her consciousness yet. Once she is awake, I will ask her”.

“About letting you go, I don’t think that’s what I am planning on doing right now” he said and Hazel could feel her heart dropping in the pit of her stomach.

‘What does he mean? Is he going to punish me, even when I am not the culprit? Or is he planning on using me and my ability for his own benefit? Is he going to keep me imprisoned for the rest of my life?’ All of these questions started bugging her mind.

He noticed her fear and said, “You don’t have to be scared. I am not thinking of doing anything that you are imagining of”. His tone was calm.

“Then… then what do you mean?” she asked.

His eyes fell on her left hand which she had cut with the dagger earlier. It wasn’t healing. He again looked into her eyes.

“I will explain it to you later. First I need to talk with Charlotte and confirm that you are not the one who attacked her. Once she confirms that I will come back and explain everything”

Saying this he started getting up from the bed and her anxiety increased. She didn’t know what he was thinking or planning. She doesn’t even know if she should trust him or not.

“At least free my hand for me. Why are you keeping me like I am a criminal?” she asked and he stopped walking and turned around to look at her.

“Just stay like this for a while. First I need to figure out what you actually are? And I can’t risk the lives of my pack members by letting you free. I don’t even know what else you can do” he said.

“I don’t harm anyone. And I am not some weird creature or something like that. Please…” she was again cut off when he glared hard at her for going against his words.

“Just stay here and don’t even think about trying something funny” he commanded and her wolf submitted instantly.

He walked out and locked the door from outside but not before glancing in her direction one last time.

As soon as door closed, she sighed. The tears of frustration have already started stinging the back of her eyes.

‘What in the world is going on in my life moon goddess?’ she thought.

‘What do you think Hannah? Do you think we made a mistake by revealing our secret in front of Alpha King?’ Hazel asked her wolf Hannah.

‘Even I am confused right now. We just did it to save ourselves. But I don’t know if revealing it has helped us in saving ourselves or we have put ourselves in even more dangerous situation’ Hannah said.

Hazel sighed again while thinking what turn is her life going to take from here on.

Meanwhile...

Adrian has started making his way towards the hospital. He got mind link from Zain while he was talking with Hazel. Zain informed him that, Charlotte has gained her consciousness.

He reached there and found Zain, Blake and Harry standing outside of her room.

He entered into the room and saw Charlotte sitting on the hospital bed. Doctor explained that her injuries are almost healed except for the one around her heart.

Because that was the deepest wound and actual cause of her death. But they didn’t tell anyone that Charlotte was dead, not even to doctors.

They just told everyone that she was attacked by rogue and was injured badly.

The reason is, first he knows people are not even going to believe such a thing could happen in the first place. It’s not something which is normal for people to trust.

And second, even if they try to believe his words as Alpha King is the one who is claiming that he has seen Hazel bringing someone back to life, it is definitely going to put Hazel in danger.

People may want to abuse her power for their benefits. And he can’t let that happen.

He doesn’t want anyone to find out about Hazel’s ability. He doesn’t even know if it is a regular thing or it just worked this time.

But by the confidence with which she claimed she can revive Charlotte, means that she has done it before.

Doctor went out and Zain, Blake and Harry entered into the room. He sat down beside her bed and asked, “How are you feeling?”

Charlotte smiled, “I am feeling much better now. Thank you for saving me. When that rogue dug that dagger into my chest, I felt like I would die”.

Adrian didn’t say anything. Zain and Harry both looked at Adrian with the same look in their eyes. Adrian mind linked them, ‘Don’t tell her about her death. It will freak her out’.

They understood the instructions. “So you are saying it was a rogue who attacked you” and Charlotte nodded her head.

“But we found this girl beside you when we reached the border, do you remember her? Was she also involved in the attack?” Adrian asked.

“Oh, I remember her. But not clearly as I was on the verge of passing out. But I am sure she wasn’t involved in the attack, because I felt like she was trying to help me” She said.

“Okay rest. Doctor said you will be okay by tomorrow afternoon” Adrian said to her and made his way out of her room followed by his men.

They came back to palace and made their way into his office. No one said anything throughout the way.

As soon as they were inside Adrian asked, “Are all the warriors back?”

Harry nodded his head, “Yes Alpha King”.

“Great, I want you to send some of our warriors to dig more about this incident. I need that rogue. We don’t know if it was just a random attack or planned conspiracy” Adrian ordered and all three of them nodded their heads.

“About red shadow pack…” Adrian paused after looking at Blake and asked him, “Are you already aware about everything that happened Blake?”

“Yes King” he replied.

“Okay great. But I want everything that happened tonight to be between us. No word should go out about Charlotte’s death” Adrian said.

“About Red shadow pack, they are still searching Hazel” Zain informed Adrian.

Adrian raked his hands through his hairs. He can’t let her go back in that pack. He needs to keep her here. Most importantly when he thinks that she is…

His train of thoughts was cut off when Blake said, “We can inform them that we have her here, as a suspect for attacking Princess Charlotte. That way, they will stop searching for her and no one will be able to go against your decision”.

Adrian nodded his head in agreement and said, “Okay, good idea Blake. Zain, first thing in the morning you will have to do is call red shadow pack”

“Done” Zain replied.

“Okay, you can go and rest” and both Harry and Blake left the room.

“Why aren’t you going Zain?” Adrian asked leaning against the desk which is placed in the middle of the office. He is facing the window staring at the night sky and moon.

“About Hazel, what do you think? What is she?” Zain asked. He had noticed how Adrian was behaving weirdly around her.

“I don’t know. But I think that…” he paused.

“What is it?” Zain asked.

“I think she is my mate” Zain’s eyes widened like saucers upon hearing his words.

“What? How? Did you feel anything? Why do you think that way? Was it her scent? Or the sparks, Did you feel the sparks?” he asked all the questions at the same time.

“No I didn’t. I didn’t feel anything that I should have felt after meeting my mate. But…” he paused again.

“But what Adrian?” Zain asked incredulously and it shocked Adrian. Zain never raises his voice in front of him.

Zain realized his mistake and apologized instantly. Adrian didn’t mind him talking like that. He thinks of him as friend so he doesn’t mind it. And Adrian knows why Zain wants him to find his mate.

How important it is for Adrian to find his mate.

“But I just felt that way. I got angry when I got whiff of other men on her body. I felt jealous and possessive over her”

“You know my pain, it literally halved in intensity when I saw her in the woods. Just like how it happened in red shadow pack and she was also present there in pack in afternoon” Adrian tried explaining something which he himself was not completely sure about.

“It could be coincidence Adrian. Otherwise you must have been able to recognize her as your mate, right?” Zain tried to think practically.

“Yes, I would have thought the same if not for her face” Adrian said.

“What about her face?” Zain inquired.

“You know I have been having these nightmares every now and then since the day I took over the Alpha King’s title, right?”

“Yes I know”.

“She is the girl I have been seeing in my nightmares all this time” Adrian revealed and Zain’s jaw dropped to the floor.

“What!” Zain exclaimed in surprise.

“Yes she is. I was completely dumbfounded when I saw her there in the woods. It’s the first time I saw her in real life but her face was same, not a single thing or feature was different” Adrian explained.

“Are you sure you haven’t met her ever in the past, maybe when you were a kid?” Zain asked to confirm.

“Never. As far as I remember” Adrian sighed while running his hand through his hairs. He is feeling frustrated. He wants to find many answers but he doesn’t know how or from where.

“Then your guess might be right. But why couldn’t you recognize her as your mate like other wolves?”

Adrian thought for a moment and then replied, “Maybe because of my curse. But I am not sure”

Adrian only knows that he is cursed but he doesn’t know anything about it. Like what this curse actually is? How did he get cursed?

No one knows, not even his father did.

Actually no one even knows that he is cursed. Only Zain and him are the ones who are aware about it.

“What are you planning on doing? I don’t think she suspects you to be her mate. Are you planning on telling her?”

“Not actually. First I need to confirm it for myself. I can’t make decisions based on my speculations. But for now I am going to keep her here” Adrian declared and Zain inquired.

“How?”

Adrian just smiled but didn’t say anything.
