Adrian’s POV

We wound up the Alpha summit after discussing all the important matters.

My mind was still trying to think about the cause of decrease in my heart ache.

After we were done, Alpha David guided everyone of us to dining room.

I have to return to palace by tonight. As I have some things to take care of back in royal pack.

I can’t spend much of my time here and should return to palace as soon as possible.

That is why everything was rushed today. Other Alphas didn’t even get the chance to rest after arriving in the red shadow pack.

Usually after arriving to the place where we are going to have our summit, everyone gets the chance to rest. Then after some time the meeting takes place.

It’s a lengthy procedure so everyone leaves their territories for at least around two days. But today I am in rush and that is why everything was wrapped up quickly.

Today we started the meeting as soon as I arrived so that I can leave early.

We reached the dining room and the smell of delicious food reached my nose. It is quite mouth watering scent if you would ask me.

And if I am saying this is mouth watering, then it’s a very big deal. Because I am a very picky eater who doesn’t like the food cooked by others very easily.

I only like eating the food made by my head chef in palace. But this delicious smell is really alluring me to devour the food in front of me.

We all settled down on the table and maids started serving food to me.

As I assumed the food was very delicious as if it was cooked by some professional chef.

We were all done eating when Alpha Darren excused himself to use restroom.

After having our dinner everyone once again gathered in meeting room. I will leave after having coffee.

I saw Mason the son of Alpha David leaving the room after excusing himself. He looked restless for some reason.

I sipped on my coffee as everyone got engaged in relaxing and light conversation.

Suddenly the ache in my heart intensified to an extreme level in a second and the cup of coffee slipped from my hand, falling on the floor.

Everyone’s attention got shifted towards me and I had to mask my pain from their eyes.

“Are you okay Alpha King?” Alpha David asked and I nodded my head with a forced smile.

“I am okay. It’s just that I wasn’t paying attention to the cup in my hand. You all can continue with your conversation" I said and everyone complied.

A maid entered into the room and started cleaning the mess I caused.

The wave of pain hit my heart again and I had to bit my tongue to stop myself from whimpering.

My palms balled into fists and my nails started digging into my palm. It's becoming unbearable.

I felt Aiden trying to push forward to take control but I had to push him back into the back of my mind.

I can't scare the people present here for no reason. And they might get suspicious if I suddenly lose my control to my wolf.

"I would like to take my leave now. It's getting quite late” I said getting up from my chair.

Thinking, 'I should get out of here first'. Because I don't know how long I will be able to control Aiden.

Everyone got on their feet in respect.

I got a mind link from Zain who also got up and stood behind me. He has worry written all over his face, ‘Are you okay Adrian?’.

‘I am okay’ I replied.

At the same time Alpha Darren entered into the meeting room. He looks angry for some reason.

I started walking out of the meeting room as Alpha David guided me and everyone else followed behind me.

I am putting up a strong front and am successfully hiding my pain from everyone. But the pain is just too much. It’s like someone is ripping my heart apart.

I know I have felt this kind of pain before. In fact I have been feeling such intense pain occasionally for past six years but today there is something different.

It is something much more worse than it was in the past.

It’s as if someone very precious to me is in danger. I have this urge to protect someone who might need my help.

My mind is trying to think only about one thing,

Who could that person be?

We came out of pack house. My warriors and Harry was already ready with the cars. I turned around to bid my goodbye.

And suddenly the pain started vanishing. As if it was never there.

‘What the f**k is going on today?’

Everyone bowed there heads in front of me and right at that time Mason also came out. He is also looking very pissed right now.

I acknowledged everyone’s respect and got into my car and Harry started driving.

After few minutes when we were away from pack house of red shadow pack, Zain who is sitting on the passenger’s seat turned around to look at me and asked, “What’s wrong Adrian? Is there any problem?”

I looked at Harry who is also glancing at me through rear view mirror, after every other second.

I sighed. I can tell these two guys about my pain. Both of them know that I have this constant pain in my chest.

Not many are aware about this. Only Zain, my gamma Blake, my bodyguard Harry and doctor Sandra of royal hospital knows about this pain.

But the fact that I feel this pain because I am cursed is still a secret. Only me and Zain know about the curse.

My father told both of us before dying. But no one knows the truth behind this curse or what this curse actually is.

Not even me.

I looked up to find them still waiting for my answer.

"First call Rose. Ask if she is okay and how is everything in royal pack" I ordered.

Zain quickly obliged and called Rose.

I was feeling like someone very close to me, very precious to me was in danger that is why I asked Zain to check up on Rose.

Because she is the most important person in my life.

Zain disconnected the call and told me that everything is okay in the royal pack. I released a breath of relief. But the feeling of restlessness is still there.

Both of their questioning gaze again fixed on me. I sighed again and told them everything.

How at first the pain started subsiding as soon as we entered into the red shadow pack’s territory then suddenly it increased to an extreme level and how it again started subsiding.

Both of them got confused as well just like I am. It is really starting to frustrate me, not knowing the answers to my questions.

We were reaching the borders of red shadow pack when suddenly I started smelling something.

I tried concentrating a little more to find out what this scent actually is and my eyes widened when I realized what it is.

It’s blood. Fresh blood.

The scent is very faint right now. It means it is still far from here. I glanced in direction of Zain and Harry, they haven’t noticed the scent yet.

I am able to get a whiff of this smell even from this far is because my sense of scent is stronger than everyone in this kingdom.

I am Alpha King. The king of all the Alphas.

So my sense of smell and all other supernatural abilities are much more stronger and greater than others. I am much more powerful than others.

“Harry, drive a little faster. I am smelling some fresh blood at a far distance” I told him and he obliged immediately.

The scent started getting stronger as we got nearer to the borders. Both Zain and Harry also started smelling the blood.

We were just about to reach the borders when my eyes widened. I recognize this scent.

It’s Princess Charlotte’s.

Both Zain and Harry’s eyes also widened when realization hit them. Harry increased the speed of the car as Zain turned around to look at me.

My eyes which were wide open due to shock, now started filling with anger and my hands curved into tight fists.

I can scent another wolf around Charlotte.

Is that wolf responsible for the reason why Charlotte is bleeding? Did that wolf attack Charlotte?

The car came to halt as soon as we reached the border and smell became even more stronger.

I came out of the car and my eyes fell on the girl sitting on the ground at a little distance from us. Her back is facing me.

She looks like she is shivering while staring at something. I moved my eyes to get a look at what she is staring at.

My blood started boiling when my eyes fell on the lifeless body of Charlotte. Her body is covered in blood.

I growled loudly in anger and started taking fast and long strides in her direction.

Upon hearing my growl the girl flinched and turned around in panic.

My fast steps halted stopping dead in my tracks when my green eyes met with her brown ones.
