Attending the Alpha summit

Alpha King Adrian’s POV

“Ah..” I woke up with the jerk while grunting in pain. I looked around in panic and took a breath of relief when I found myself in my room.

I sighed and closed my eyes resting my back on the headboard of the bed. I lifted my hands to wipe the cold sweat from my forehead.

Rubbing my face with my palms to remove those weird scenes from my mind, I opened my eyes again.

My heart is pounding in my chest, my breathing is coming out heavy. And the pain in my chest, it is still constant.

It was again that weird nightmare.

My phone started buzzing and it’s the alarm which I set before going to sleep yesterday night. I got out of bed after turning it off.

I should get ready now. Today I have to attend the Alpha summit in Red shadow pack of my kingdom.

I came out of my room after getting ready for the day. I got the mind link from Zain a while ago that everything is prepared for the summit.

I don’t know what’s wrong but I am having this unknown uneasiness in my heart for a while now.

And now that I think about it, it started when I was first informed about this Alpha summit that is going to be hosted by Red shadow pack this time.

It was a week ago. And since then I am not finding the peace in my mind or my heart.

I ignored it at first as it was not that serious in the beginning. I just felt a little uneasy when I heard that I have to visit Red shadow pack.

Slowly this uneasiness started increasing with each passing moment.

But since the moment I have woken up today, I am feeling very restless. Even my wolf Aiden is feeling the same way in the back of my head.

‘Is something wrong going to happen in the Alpha summit today?’ I was worried.

I made my way to the living room where my entire family was waiting for me along with my Beta Zain, my bodyguard Harry.

These two will be going with me to attend the summit, of course along with my warriors. My gamma Blake will take care of the things in the palace in my absence.

Upon seeing me everyone rose from their seat while bowing their heads in respect. I nodded my head to acknowledge their greetings and motioned them to take their seats.

“Adrian, come here son” Celine called me.

I made my way towards my step mother and sat beside her on the couch.

Celine, she is not my biological mother as my real mom Sarah died after two years of giving birth to me. Celine is my Father’s chosen mate to whom he got married when I was three years old. One year after mother’s death.

He didn’t want to marry her because he still loved my mom but he had to. For his kingdom’s sake.

As after the death of my mother he had become complete mess. He was not able to bear the pain of losing his mate and was devastated.

He was not paying attention to his work which resulted in many problems to arise in the whole kingdom.

Even one of the pack, Blue moon pack in our kingdom’s territory was completely destroyed in a rogue attack. Not even a single person survived that attack.

People started raising questions at his leadership.

So elders of the royal pack suggested for him to choose a mate to make her Luna queen of this kingdom, so that she can rule the kingdom with him and also to take care of the future Alpha king, that is me.

My Father was feeling guilty that he could not save a pack in his kingdom and because of his selfishness and stupidity so many wolves were killed.

Only if he paid more attention to what’s going on in his kingdom instead of mourning over the death of his mate, he could have saved so many lives.

That is why he decided to get married and move on in his life.

But I know how much he loved my mom until the day of his death. You could tell how much he loved my mom just by looking into his eyes, whenever he used to talk about her.

Elders chose Celine who was sister of the Alpha Cyrus of Black moon pack. She had potential of becoming a Luna queen and proved herself in front of everyone.

This is how she became the Luna queen of this kingdom. Even though I could never accept her as my mother but I do respect her as Luna queen.

“Have you eaten son?” she asked me and I nodded my head. “Yes I had my breakfast in my room”.

I usually eat in my room. I don’t like eating in the dining room with others except when there is some special occasion.

“Okay Beta Zain said everything is ready for the journey. Take care on your way” she said and I nodded my head with a small smile.

Her daughter means my step sister Rebecca and her husband Louis were also present in the room. Both of them wished me happy journey.

I don’t quite get along with both Rebecca and her mate Louis. Both of them seem fake to me.

Louis is a greedy person, I can tell it with just one look in his eyes.

Many times I have noticed jealousy in his eyes. He has desires of becoming the Alpha king if something happens to me.

But I am not that weak. I am Alpha King for a reason and everyone in this kingdom and even in nearby kingdom’s knows better than to mess with me.

I have everything a man desires. Be it power, position, looks, respect or anything.

When it comes to the safety of my kingdom and the members who live in my territory, I can do anything.

You mess with my people and I will destroy you and everything that is dear to you.

We made our way out of the palace. Four cars were parked in front of the main gate.

Red shadow pack is a little far away from the royal pack. It’s around four hours drive from here. If we start our journey now then we will reach there by afternoon.

I was just about to get into the car when a familiar scent hit my nose and a small smile appeared on my lips.

I turned around to find Rose my another step sister running in my direction. Just like Rebecca she is also a daughter of my father and Celine.

But I can say, that she is the only family member after my father, who is precious to me. I love her a lot as my younger sister.

Why?

Because I never saw the jealousy or any negative emotion in her eyes for me.

She loves me genuinely like a good younger sister she is and I love her the most in this world.

She turned nineteen this year and is eagerly waiting to find her mate.

She stood in front of me and said while panting, “I thought I would be late and will not be able to meet you before you leave”.

I smiled at her disheveled state. I can tell that she is coming here directly after her training.

“Do you have something important to tell me that you had to run in order to catch up to me?” I asked.

She nodded her head vigorously as she said, “I wanted you to purchase something for me. There in Red shadow pack they sell some bracelets which helps you in finding your mate. So please buy two of them before returning”.

I chuckled at her request. She definitely is very eager to find her mate that she even believes in such useless things.

What kind of bracelet can help you find your mate? It’s in moon goddess’ hands to decide when you will meet your other half.

But I didn’t say it to Rose. Instead I asked, “Why do you need two of them? Don’t tell me you want two mates?” I teased.

She laughed at my comment and said, “No, one for me and one for..” her laugh died and a sad smile appeared on her lips when she continued, “One for you”.

My smile also faltered. Yes I haven’t found my mate yet. Even after trying so hard for past seven years, I still haven’t found her.

I smiled at my sister again who really wants me to find my mate. I can see genuine concern in her eyes.

“I want you to find her Brother. Charlotte is good, I know. She is a nice woman and your good friend as well. But I want you to find your own mate and make her your Luna queen. Instead of a chosen mate” she said sadly.

I patted her head gently before placing a soft kiss on her head and replied, “I will buy those bracelets for you”.

I settled in the back seat of my car. Harry was driving the car and Zain was sitting on the passenger’s seat.

The drive is going to be long so I closed my eyes and rested my head on the back of the seat.

My mind again went back to the thoughts of my mate. I still haven’t found her yet. I tried traveling around visiting different packs in my kingdom just to find her but I couldn’t.

I even organized few mating balls in the palace during past six years after I took over the position of Alpha king when I was nineteen years old. Inviting each and every pack members of every pack in my kingdom just so that I could find her.

But luck was not on my side.

It feels like she is not in my kingdom’s territory. Or else how is it possible that I could not find her in past seven years.

My hand reached to touch my chest where my heart is. I felt the pain is still there. I have this constant pain in my heart.

When I say constant, it literally means constant.

Never for a single moment this pain subsides. I have been having this pain since the day I was born.

No, I don’t remember having it when I was a kid but my Father told me that I used to cry constantly since the day I was born. And I suspect it was because of the pain.

Later when I was old enough to speak and understand what pain means, I told my dad about this.

At first it was so difficult for me to endure this pain but my father told me that I has to endure it, in order to become stronger.

Dad told me not to tell anyone about this pain and keep it a secret from everyone. So I complied with his order.

Gradually I got used to this pain and through training I learned how to hide my pain from others. So now except from my beta Zain, my gamma Blake, my bodyguard Harry and head doctor of royal pack Sandra, no one knows about my pain.

The cause of this heart ache was unknown to everyone, even to me as well.

Until the day when my father told me about the cause of this pain before dying in my arms. And the reason shook me.

“Alpha King are you really going to announce Princess Charlotte as your chosen mate?” Harry asked and I came out of my thoughts.

I released a sigh and said, “I don’t have any other choice. I haven’t found my mate. And I don’t even know if I will be able to find her or not”.

I know everyone wanted me to find my mate and make her my Luna queen but as I haven’t found her yet.

I am already twenty five this year. According to elders the kingdom needs a strong Luna queen beside me to rule the kingdom.

I have been ignoring elders’ requests of choosing my mate as soon as possible so that I can have my heir. Because I still want to find my mate.

I have to find her. Or else I won’t have any other choice than to announce Charlotte as my chosen mate and get married with her.

Charlotte is very beautiful and elegant woman and my childhood friend as well. She is a princess of another nearby kingdom so she perfectly fits into the category of my chosen mate, as per the elders and Celine.

Well I also don’t mind having her as my chosen mate as she is really nice person with a beautiful heart but still I wish I could have found my mate. Then I would have been happy with the thought of marriage.

I sighed in disappointment when the thought of my unfound mate crossed my mind again.

We entered into the territory of red shadow pack a while ago.

I have been feeling this for a while now but I realized just now that suddenly the pain in my heart is subsiding. It shocked me.

It’s quite strange. It has never happened before. Not even once. If there were any kind of changes in the intensity of the pain in my heart, that was only increase in the heart ache. Not decrease.

What does decrease in this pain mean? I was thinking.

The car came to halt in front of the pack house of Red shadow pack. Everyone was standing outside waiting for me.

I came out of the car and all the Alphas who were present here with their units, bowed their heads in front of me.

I acknowledged them. They invited me and my unit inside.

As soon as I entered into the pack house the pain went down even more. Almost halved in the intensity.

What’s going on?

First me and my wolf Aiden were feeling restless for no reason since the morning and now this pain is decreasing. I don’t even know if the decrease of my heartache is good thing or not.

If I should be happy that it has started decreasing or is it something to be worried about?

Because the cause of this pain is something which is beyond everyone’s imagination. And the reason is that..

I am cursed.

‘And the only person who can save me from this curse is my mate’.
