What is she?

Adrian’s POV

I am going back to palace after visiting the royal pack hospital. Right now I am making my way towards the room where I have kept that girl.

I have many questions in my mind and I want answers to those questions.

I feel like my brain is going to explode at any moment. I still can’t believe what I have just witnessed a few hours ago.

How is that even possible? It doesn’t make any sense.

At first I was just too sad and angry as I had lost my childhood friend and didn’t even know who killed her and why.

And seeing that girl’s familiar face in front of my eyes for the first time, was making me confused as hell.

I never met her before yet she was the girl whose face I have been seeing for past six years.

In my dreams.

But I needed to control my emotions and find out the truth behind Charlotte’s death and about this mysterious girl.

I knew she was not the one who killed charlotte.

As Alpha King I am quite good in reading people and detecting lies through their words, actions or by the look in their eyes.

And her brown eyes were just screaming innocence all the time.

When she was begging in front of me to believe her, I could see that she was telling the truth. But still I was a little suspicious, I had to be.

Because your instinct can’t always be right. Some can be very good in pretending.

That is why I was interrogating her, to figure out if she was really being honest or was just really good at pretending to be innocent.

When she mentioned that she was running away from Red shadow pack, I was really curious to know the reason.

Because it’s a known fact that running away from your pack usually means going against them. It always comes with consequences.

No one accepts the runaway wolves in their pack and they are killed instantly the moment they enter another pack’s territory.

Living as rogue is most difficult and dangerous for wolves. That is why no one chooses to escape from their pack and bears everything they are going through in their own pack rather than running away and living as rogue.

So I wanted to know what made her make such a tough choice.

But the reason she shared just snatched all my curiosity, converting it into pure rage. And getting a whiff of other male wolves on her body was not helping either.

I didn’t even pay any attention to what Zain was saying about Mason never getting involved with lower rank wolves, it didn’t matter to me at that time.

I just hated the fact that someone else had touched her.

But why? She is not even my mate.

When she denied to tell me the name of the other guy who touched her apart from Mason, it gave the rise to a completely different kind of anger and feeling in my heart.

The emotions I saw in those beautiful brown eyes of hers while thinking about that other guy, infuriated me.

And when she said that the other guy didn’t hurt her, which means she let him touch her body willingly, I just lost it. Not only me but even my wolf Aiden wanted to find that bastard and rip his body apart.

Her silence was just pissing me too much and that is why just to scare her and make her utter that bastard’s name, I said that I will put her in dungeon.

But when she uttered those unbelievable words,

‘I can bring her back to life’

I was too stunned. I wanted to laugh at her when I heard her say those words. But I was so pissed at that moment, her words were just annoying me.

What the hell is she even saying? That’s what I was thinking in my mind.

But what she did next just left me feeling flabbergasted.

Flashback...

We are reaching the borders of royal pack. I looked to my side and found her sitting at the far edge of the seat, completely glued to the door of the car.

Hazel, this is what her name is. I found out.

I can’t believe that I’m believing the claims she’s making about reviving Charlotte from her death and trying to give her a chance to prove herself.

I don’t know what got over me but I decided to just bring her here in the royal pack. I didn’t have any other choice, right?

I couldn’t sent her back to Red shadow pack, not after what she told us that she went through with Mason before escaping.

I didn’t want to trust her. It’s possible that she is lying and she might really be running after hurting the future Luna of Red shadow pack.

But the look in her eyes when she said that she didn’t do it, when she begged in front of me to believe her, my heart could not ignore that.

Apart from that I didn’t want her to go and spread the news about Charlotte’s death.

This matter is already going to be very sensitive. It might even result in war between two kingdoms.

After all she was Princess of her kingdom.

I am sad that I lost one of my best friends but it’s also making me worried as the Alpha King. I need to take the responsibility of her death.

And I have promised myself that I am definitely going to catch the culprit and punish them myself.

I know it’s not Hazel, who killed Charlotte. It was clear in her eyes that she wasn’t lying when she said that she didn’t kill her.

She was still glued to the door of the car trying to be as far away from me as possible. She is intimidated by me and my aura, I can see that.

Harry stopped the car when we reached our secret cabin which is located deep in the woods, in royal pack’s territory.

This part of the territory is prohibited for everyone as it is royal family’s private property. So no one comes here except Zain, Blake and Harry.

I have sent my other warriors back to the palace. They are not aware about Charlotte’s death yet. They all think that she is just injured as when we found her at red shadow pack’s border, she was still breathing as Hazel mentioned.

But she stopped breathing not long after we reached there. But by then they had already disappeared into the woods to find that rogue we scented near Charlotte.

When one of the warriors mind linked us to inform that the guards of Red shadow pack were making their way towards borders of find the runaway omega slave, aka Hazel, we decided to get out of there as soon as possible.

As I said earlier, we didn’t want the news of Charlotte’s death to spread yet. First I have to do some investigation and find the bastard who killed my friend in my kingdom.

That is why before my warriors could return from woods, we left the borders of Red shadow pack and Zain already mind linked them to get back to the royal pack.

It might sound weird but deep down in my heart I wish, what Hazel is claiming about bringing Charlotte back to life, is actually truth.

Ridiculous right? I know. But I am just feeling really frustrated with the whole situation.

We got out of the car. I was holding Hazel’s arm in my hand. Zain was carrying Charlotte’s lifeless body in his arms as we made our way into the cabin.

Zain laid her body on the sofa and both Harry and Zain stood at a little distance from us. The uncertainty is clear in their eyes. I was still holding Hazel close.

“Okay, so you said you can bring her back to life, right? Here she is, start your work” I said to her.

She looked uncomfortable. She was hesitant.

‘Was she just lying to distract us?’ Aiden asked, shocking me.

‘So did you really believe her words or what?’ I asked him. He sounded so disappointed as if he was trusting this girl.

“Why? What happened? Do you need some kind of materials or items to perform the ritual or procedure of some kind? Like what witches do, huh?” I mocked her but deep down even I am feeling disappointed.

“No I don’t need anything. But I can’t do it in front of everyone. Please leave me alone with her for few minutes. You can come in later when I ask you to” she said.

I chuckled at her words. “And do you think I am stupid enough to leave you alone here, when you are clearly one of the biggest suspect in this incident?”

“Who knows when you might try to run away?” I asked.

“I am not going to go anywhere. Where could I possibly go? Even if I try to run, won’t your people come to catch me?” she asked and I have noticed that for an omega wolf she is way more gutsy than an ordinary omega.

“Anyways, I am not leaving you alone. Now you decide how you want to do it. But remember one thing, if I find out that you were just lying all along, making the fool out of us, you will regret it for the rest of your life” I said making my point clear.

She sighed in defeat and said, “Okay then I can not force you to leave as you are Alpha King. But I request you that at least tell them to go out. Otherwise I won’t be able to do anything”.

After few seconds of observing her I nodded my head. Zain looked hesitant and concerned for a moment but I told him to wait outside through mind link and as always he didn’t disobey me.

Once they were out I looked at her with raised brow, asking her without words if it is okay now.

She asked, “Do you have some knife or blade or any other sharp thing?”

I looked at her in confusion. ‘What is she planning on doing?’

“I am not going to hurt you or anyone else in that matter. So, do you have one?” she asked again.

I pulled out the dagger from one of the drawers of the desk behind me and handed it over to her but I kept my skeptical gaze on her.

She took the dagger and cut her left palm with it. My eyes widened as I snapped, “What are you doing?”

I was about to take her hand in mine when she started walking towards Charlotte and held her hurt hand over her mouth.

She dropped a drop of her blood in Charlotte's mouth. Then she started walking in my direction and returned the dagger to me.

All the while I was just staring at her in complete confusion. “Is it done?” I asked her with raised brows while taking the dagger from her hand.

I just stared at her face silently as she nodded her head. I started chuckling at her but there was no humour.

My eyes turned cold as my jaw clenched. “Do you think this is some kind of joke?” I growled at her face.

Both Zain and Harry came running into the room upon hearing my outburst.

Hazel flinched at my tone but I am just too angry to notice anything else right now.

I am already worried as it is because of what happened to Charlotte and here this girl is just doing nothing but increase my anger.

She didn’t say anything and just kept staring at the floor as if it is most interesting thing in the world.

“Tell me!” I shouted and took a step closer to her and she stumbled back.

“You really want to get punished right? Okay. Zain prepare…” I was cut off when I heard someone coughing loudly.

My eyes widened as my head whipped in the direction of Charlotte. My mouth hung open loosely and my heartbeat increased. I was frozen to my place.

I was stunned. I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing.

Zain walked towards Charlotte’s lying body and took her hand in his, checking her pulse.

His widened eyes shifted to me as he said, “Her pulse has returned. She has started breathing again”. His eyes slid to Hazel who was still standing in front of me.

Harry was as dumbfounded as both me and Zain.

Hazel lifted her eyes and my shocked eyes met with her tear filled ones. She suddenly looks weak. Now I noticed her eyes are looking like she is on the verge of passing out and I was right.

Her eyelids dropped and she started losing her consciousness. She lost her balance but before she could fall, I held her by her waist pulling her closer.

My eyes were still fixed on her face as I thought, ‘What is she?’
