*Jaden's pov*.
I walked in to see the doctor trying to save my grandfather.
Something about her reminded me of Amelia, but she was wearing a mask and her voice was disguised, so I couldn't tell who she was.
I walked out and decided to wait in the waiting room.
After some time Liam came out and gave me a status update.
"President Jaden, he is having an unknown problem and Dr. Eidin is running all the possible tests to find the problem.
"Do you know why he suddenly started behaving weirdly" I asked
"I don't know president. He was completely fine when I met him the other day.
"He is the most powerful person in the country, I can't let anything happen to him.
"It is going to be fine, president" Liam said.
"Liam, tell Dr. Eidin whatever she needs just make sure my grandfather makes it out alive.
"Yes, President" Liam said and walked back in.
"How is the chairman?
"Did they find out the reason for the coma?
"I hope it's not anything serious" a group of reporters surrounded me.
"Everyone, please calm down.
"There has been no official statement yet, once we know anything I will let you know.
"Now please get out of my way.
"What happened to the chairman?
"Is he going to be okay?
I didn't know what happened but ever since Amelia left my life seemed to be in complete chaos.
I tried calling her but she didn't pick up.
*Amelia's pov*.
I looked at the brain scan results and shook my head.
I knew my attack on He enterprise must have something to do with his current condition.
A part of me wanted to stop treating him and let him die and a part of me wanted to save him,not because he deserved it but because I had planned something worse than death for him.
"Dr. Eidin, what did you find?" Liam asked
"His brain activity is normal but the results are showing some sort of foreign body.
"It's not a chemical imbalance or a tumor" I said as I continued running the tests.
"What is it then" Liam asked
"I have never seen something like this before"
"Dr. Eidin, can't you try a different drug.
"Maybe something new would work"
"If I give him any medication at this point I'll be putting his life in danger.
"I have to find a way to extract whatever it is" I said.
"Should I try and get him a surgery from another hospital"
"No.
"I don't know how long I can keep him alive so the faster we can operate the better" I said and turned around to face Liam.
"Get me a room and all the equipment ready"
"Yes, Dr.
"Are you going to do it yourself"
"Yes" I said as I walked towards the chairman's room.
"Mr. Jaden, I am going to operate on your grandfather.
"I am afraid if we don't remove whatever is causing this we won't be able to save him"
"Will he survive the surgery"
"Dr. Eidin is the best Neurosurgeon in the country. If there's one person capable of saving your grandfather, it's her." Liam said before I could say anything.
"Do everything you can, doctor.
"I will" I said
I got ready and went in for the operation.
"Mr.Jaden, it's going to take around 6 hours.
"I will let you know the minute the surgery is over" Liam said
"Thank you, Liam.
"Thank you, Dr. Eidin"
I was surprised by how sincere he sounded.
I smiled under my mask.
"I wonder what he'll do when he finds out I'm his ex-wife " I thought as I got to work.
It was 4 in the morning and the surgery was finally over.
"We have to wait for him to wake up and then we'll know if he'll be okay" I said
"Yes, Doctor" Liam replied
"Make sure no one enters the room"
"Yes, Dr"
"I will have the nurses check him every 15 minutes"
I nodded.
"You can go, Liam. It's been a long night.
"No, Doctor. I have to stay here.
"Okay, then make sure you get some rest.
"Thank you, Doctor" he said
"I am going to inform Mr. Jaden"
I nodded and went to change.
I washed my face and looked in the mirror.
Gone was the sweet,innocent, Amelia, one who let her ex-husband trample her beneath his foot. In her place stood Dr.Eidin, world renowned neuro surgeon.
"I'll make sure he regrets everything he did to me"
"Dr. Eidin" Liam called from outside.
"Yes, Liam"
"President Jaden is here to see the Chairman.
"Let him in"
Jaden walked in and I saw a smile appear on his face when he saw his grandfather was awake.
"Grandpa, how are you feeling"
"Fine" came the reply.
"What is the last thing you remember?
"Being at home"
"That's a good sign.
"liam, I'll take my leave" I said not wanting to stand there for more minutes than it was absolutely necessary.
"Thank you, Dr.
"Thank you, Dr.
"Doctor, the company is very grateful to you for saving our chairman" Jaden said as he turned towards me.
"It's my job" I said
"Please take care" he said as he bowed his head
"Yes, President.
"Goodbye" I said and turned around to walk away
I couldn't wait to get out of the hospital and get back home.
"Doctor, I want to thank you for saving my grandfather" Jaden said.
"No thanks are required, President. I did my job"
"If you are free tonight, why don't you come for dinner" he asked.
"Dr. Eidin doesn't like getting personal with her patients" Liam said before I could come up with an excuse to reject him.
"Please, just once.
"If you really want to thank me, stay out of my face " I said and turned around and left the room.
I picked my phone to find nearly fifty missed calls from Walter and numerous text messages.
"Hey, Amy. Are you okay?
"Did anyone hurt you?
"Amy, why are you not picking up the call"
I laughed at the number of missed calls and dialled his number.
sometimes Walter behaved less like my fierce bodygaurd and more like a love sick puppy.
"Amy, where are you? Did he find out your identity ?" Walter yelled from the other side of the line.
"Hey, I am okay.
"Why are you screaming"
"You weren't picking the phone"
"Oh, I was in surgery"
"Is everything alright"
"Everything's fine"
"You don't have to worry about anything.
'It's not you but him I am more worried about" Walter jokingly and I almost burst out laughing.
"I'll see you at home"
I cut the call and went to the parking lot.
Just as I reached the car, someone called my name.
"Dr. Eidin"
"What is it Liam" I asked
"The Chairman has been calling for you"
"He wants to thank you personally"
"I told him I am not interested in his thanks" I replied and got into the car.
I went home with the hope that I wouldn't have to meet him again.
*Jaden's pov*.
After the doctor left, I stayed with grandfather until he fell asleep and then went to the company to look at the latest updates.
"President, the stock price has stabilized.
"The IT department has also managed to restore the information which was leaked" someone from the team said.
"How much was the loss" I asked
"Around 45 billion dollars"
"That's fine.
"We have lost a few days worth of business but at least the company is safe"
I called the doctor to inquire about my grandfather's health.
"How is the Chairman" I asked Liam.
"His condition is improving rapidly.
"It's amazing.
"Doctor Eidin's medical skills are really incredible"
I wish I could thank her personally but she had clearly stated she didn't want to be disturbed.
"tell her I am the president of He enterprise"
"Mr. Jaden, Even if you were the president of the f*****g united states of America, I wouldn't care . " I heard her say and was taken aback with her choice of words.
"Dr. Eidin what brings you back?", liam asked before I could respond.
"I came back to discuss something with you."She said addressing the doctor completely ignoring my presence.
"Is it related to the chairman" he asked and she shook her head indicating that it wasn't.
"Then what is it related to?", Liam asked.
I saw her mouth something and Liam's attitude changes instantly.
"Oh okay", he said looking surprised and gestured her to take a seat. I could see she was trying to avoid looking at me.
"president He, if you don't mind kindly leave. You are taking up too much space" Dr. Eidin said and I was shocked.
"You are not being very polite are you Dr. Eidin?", I asked.
"And what gives you the right to criticize my manners?
I was stunned. Nobody had ever spoken to me in such a manner.
"Okay, let's calm down", Dr. Liam said trying to deescalate the situation.
"President He, I will let you know if there's any change in your grandfather's situation but for now I'm afraid I have to ask you to leave. "he said
"now that is what you call manners", I said getting up from my seat.
"If I were you, I wouldn't say that , Dr. Eidin is not someone to be trifled with. You are the president of a company but don't forget who saved the life of the chairman of the company." Liam said
I was annoyed and furious at the way she was treating me but I didn't want to embarrass myself further so I chose to leave with my dignity intact.
I could feel her eyes following me out the door and the anger within me grew even more.
"who does she think she is ?" I thought.
"The next time I see her, I will make her pay for this insult."
