Chapter11.freedom

1000 Words
Something unsettling. “Come to my father’s house. We needed to talk. Driving felt eternal. When he arrived, Mary stood waiting, a mixture of determination and something darker in her eyes. As they entered the living room, her parents watched apprehensively, sensing the tension that hung heavily between the couple. “Alex, I need to tell you something,” Mary began, her voice firm.”I know you really need the baby in my belly, I have decided to abort it, but now I have changed my mind. I think this creature in my belly is the key to my freedom from your obsession and greedy love. The news hit him like a blow, yet he quickly masked his surprise with a Stoic expression. “That’s… significant,” he replied cautiously. Mary took a step closer, her gaze fierce.“I want a divorce. If you don’t agree, I will ensure this child will be a reality for you to ponder every day. You’ll never escape it. Alex’s heart raced.“You’re using our child as leverage? You know that’s not the way to handle this.” “I’m not asking, Alex,” she insisted, her voice rising. “You can’t control everything. I won’t be a pawn in your game anymore.” In a fit of rage and desperation, Mary stormed into the kitchen, her emotions fraying at the edges. Alex rushed after her, but she was faster, grabbing a knife from the drawer. His heart dropped. “Mary, put the knife down!” he shouted, panic threading through his tone. “It’s my body! My choice!” she screamed, tears streaming down her face as she raised the blade to her belly. Fearing that she could hurt his baby. Alex pulled out his phone, his fingers trembling as he called his lawyer." Come to this address I just texted you and bring a divorce document along with you, for me and Mary.” he said, his voice steady, but inside, he felt like the ground was collapsing beneath him. In the aftermath of the turmoil, the paperwork was signed, and the divorce was finalized. Mary’s parents were left in shock, unable to comprehend how their daughter’s life had spiraled into such chaos. Now you have no say or control over me anymore. Now leave before I call the police for trespassing. She said while she was still holding the knife. Mary, with a heavy heart, walked away from the life she once knew. And Alex was left behind in a world that suddenly felt empty. After Alex left, Mary’s room was set for heated discussion. Her parents, Mr and Mrs Andy, had come to offer their support, but instead, they found themselves embroiled in an argument. Why would you throw away your eleven-year marriage, Mary? Mr Andy thundered, his brow furrowed with concern. “You need to think about the consequences. Alex was good for you, and now you’re just going to let everything fall apart? Mary felt a lump in her throat, she had endured enough because of her father. Dad, I had to prioritize my happiness! I can’t live a lie anymore. My mum sat quietly on my bed, her heart torn between the two. She had always believed that her daughter deserved to be happy, but she knew the divorce brought with it complications that her husband was far too invested in to see clearly. Deep down, relief washed over her. Mary was finally free from a relationship that had been dragging her down. She wanted to reveal her true feelings, but wouldn’t dare disrupt my dad's panicked worries about their family’s reputation. “Mary, you need to consider what this means for our family,” my dad continued, his voice rising. “Since the merger with the Alene group, there’s a lot at stake. We can’t afford any more scandal.” Mary looked at her father, taken aback by his selfishness. “ You’re more worried about the business image than my happiness?” Her voice trembled with a mix of anger and sorrow. “I’m not a pawn in your corporate game, Dad! I need to live my life, regardless of what it means to you or your business.” My mom finally spoke up, her voice calm but firm. “Andy, we need to support our daughter. Running a business is important, yes, but what matters most is her well-being. If she’s unhappy, it will affect her life far more than any deal you’re worried about.” Mary caught her mother’s gaze. At that moment, she could see a flicker of understanding and pride, buried beneath the layers of parental concern. My mum wanted nothing more than for me to choose freedom and joy, even if it meant heartbreak in the family dynamics. The room fell silent, the weight of the conversation heavy in the air. My dad's panicked expressions softened as he realized that his daughter was growing up and making the choices she needed to make, but the fear of losing control clouded his judgment. “I just want what’s best for you,” he finally said, his voice quieter. “But I worry about the future. What if this impacts everything we’ve worked for?” Mary took a deep breath, her heart steadying. “Dad, I have to believe that I can chart my own course. Maybe this will lead to something better for all of us. I know it’s hard, but I need your support more than your worry.” Looking at her parents, Mary realized that this was not just a battle for her own independence, but a call for her family to rethink their priorities. My mum nodded, a smile breaking through her earlier restraint, acknowledging the strength and resolve in her daughter’s words. Mary felt a revitalizing surge of hope. No matter the outcome of her father's business concerns, she was carving her own path. And at that moment, Mary knew that she was finally free.
