Three hours later,
Elsa got up from the bed feeling strange and weak. The strange books flashed to her memory and she decided to throw them away immediately she came back from the party. She took a brief glance at the bedside clock, it was 15 minutes past four and the party was supposed to begin by 5 pm. She was going to be late for the party. Elsa jumped down from the bed, her fragile feet met with the cold hard floor as she walked to the bathroom, just beside her room.
Few minutes later, she returned to the room with a white colored blanket firmly around her chest. With the speed of light, she searched through the few options of dress available in her dresser and she got a milk dress and got dressed. When she was done, she ran down the stairs and met her mother in the sitting room chatting happily with Mrs Margaret. “Hi mum, hi Mrs Margaret,” She greeted.
“Nice dress,” Mrs Margaret complimented.
“Thank you ma,” Elsa replied.
“Where are you heading to,” Mrs Victoria inquired.
“Well… mum…, Elsa stammered. A Halloween party was organized by the school authority for final year student and I learned about it today.”
Victoria remained silent and the sound of the clock seemed to grow louder in Elsa’s ears. “Well,” Victoria finally spoke, “you have my permission but don’t stay too long out there ok?”
“Okay mum,” Elsa appreciated, “thank you very much.”
Elsa made her way to the door and step through it into the street. She decided to take a short but lonely path to the grand hall, “it is worth the risk,” she thought. Her mind flashed back to the two strange books she found in her backpack and the strange presence she had been experiencing lately, things were happening so fast, and she was really confused. All she ever wanted was to be a normal girl.
Behind her, she heard something strange. She leaned her ears backwards to know where the sound was coming from, and she discovered that they were footsteps. “What is next,” she thought, she was literally frightened, and her hair stood straight. “I’m I hallucinating again,” she thought. Slowly, she stopped on her track and turned around, but there was not even a single soul behind her. I am definitely going crazy, she whispered.
From the bushes, four bearded men came out and surrounded her, they smelled like alcohol. “Hello beautiful princess,” the biggest among the four men said with his cracked voice, revealing his golden teeth.
“Hmmm…, can we postpone this meeting for another day. I’m so sorry gentleman, but I have somewhere going, a party precisely,” she said courageously. The four men broke into a sudden vicious laughter that made Elsa swallow hard, they were absolutely here for business. The biggest one among them moved towards Elsa, breaking the circle that had been formed around her. As he advanced, Sofia corresponded by moving backwards until she got close to the men behind her.
The big man stood before Elsa and ran his hands through her hair and then, down her cheeks. “We can have our party here princess,” he whispered into my ear. I am In trouble, Elsa thought. The g**g leader grabbed her wrist tightly, and she struggled with him. A drop of tear ran down her cheeks and the moon hided it’s face from this sad sight. Suddenly, Elsa’s hair turned glowing white, like the sun rays. She struck the hand’s of the man away and he groaned in pain.
Kill her, he commanded the rest of the g**g, they advanced towards her with their sharp knives ready to chop off her head. One of the met stabbed her from behind, and she turned furiously towards, commanding lightning to strike him dead. With her left hand, Elsa pulled out the knife and caught one of the men by the neck. The eyes of the man turned white, and he attacked the other men forcefully and got them killed and after this, he took his own life.
When all the men were dead, Elsa returned to her human state. She walked clumsily and be seen the grand hall before her, she had teleported to a nearby by dump yard. The arena was buzzing with high life music at a Volume that could damage the ear drum. Elsa struggled her way through the crowd of students and gained entrance into the Hall. The hall was filled to the brim with a crowd of high school student dancing to the tune of the high life music buzzing in the hall, and they were all with candle sticks which way very strange.
Elsa searched the hall for Sofia and found her at the extreme end laughing with a boy. It was Clinton, the class captain. Elsa walked to Sofia and coughed to announce her presences. Clinton looked over his shoulder and a broad smile greeted Elsa first. “Hi Elsa,” he greeted.
“Hi,” Elsa replied.
“ I will take my leave now,” he said to Sofia and walked away.
Elsa cross her hands over her chest, looking crossly at Sofia, but she replied with an innocent look. “Don’t give me that innocent look,” Elsa fired, “where were you today.”
“When?”
“During closing hours, you abandoned me when we were supposed to walk home together, or you left me for your newly found love?”
“ It’s not what you think dear,” she stammered. Well, “Richard told me he had something important to discuss with you and Clinton also offered to be my dance partner, and he also offered to give me a ride home” she explained.
“You Don’t mean it,” Elsa exclaimed, “so you were part of the conspiracy.”
“What conspiracy,” Sofia replied.
“You left me alone, so Richard would have all the time in the world to spill out all the nonsense in his head huh.”
“It was all his idea, besides, he did not inform me of the topic of his discussion and I felt it would be something really important.”
“Yes, significant indeed,” Elsa returned.
“So what did he tell you,” Sofia said.
“Nothing really, just another being struck by the love arrow.”
“What, he dumped Isabella for you?”
“And it’s such a pity that such a sacrifice will go down the drain.”
“What, don’t tell me you are going to turn down his proposal.”
“I never mentioned anything about proposal, Sofia, don’t be faster than your shadow.”
“Elsa there you can’t keep breaking the hearts of Evey single high school student at least not Richard, please for my sake.”
“Hi,” a familiar voice greeted them from behind. Elsa turned around and found Richard standing next to her. He was a white colored business suit that made him look responsible. “Nice dress my Elsa,” you look like a goddess, he complimented.
“You aren’t looking bad either,” Elsa replied with a smile.
“Will you be my dance partner tonight,” Richard pleaded.
“Why,” Elsa said crossly.
“Pleaseeeee”
“No.”
“Elsa turned to Sofia, Ok Mr but just for tonight, she sighed.”
“Thanks princess,” Richard appreciated and joined his friends at the other end of the hall.
“Wow! Wow! Wow! How as the mighty fallen, Sofia said almost breaking into a sudden laugh.”
“Do you think this is funny? Well I only accepted for your sake and for your information, I fell like breaking someone heart tonight,” Elsa announced.
“You won’t dare,” Elsa.
“You will hear about it.”
“I’m never going to talk to you again if you break Richards heart, when did it become a crime to fall in love.”
“Ladies and gentlemen, I’m it’s a pleasure to announce the grand opening of the dance floor,” the master of the ceremony announced from the stage. “Go find your love,” Sofia said.
“Don’t touch me,” Elsa snapped
Reluctantly, Elsa moved to the dance floor where Richard stood waiting for her. Was this right, she thought. She taped Richard from behind, and he turned around, smiling as their eye ball met. Elsa felt like running home, but she suppressed the urge and stared blankly at the handsome guy before her. Wordlessly, Richard took her hands and placed the other on her thin waist, and they danced to the slow music that flooded the hall. “I love you Elsa,” Richard broke the silence.
“And why should I believe you?”
“Because every part of my been speaks about it, I can’t live without you Elsa, just give me a chance into your life.”
Don’t you think you have mistaken your feelings for love?
“I can’t be mistaken Elsa, I know when I am in love.”
“What about Isabella, You suddenly stopped loving her?”
“I never loved Isabella, She has been the one forcing herself on me.”
“And hou can I tell you won’t dump me same way you dumped her.”
“Please Elsa, you are hurting just say yes, and I will turn your life and that of your mum around, you will never suffer again.”
Elsa saw this as an insult, and she could not stand and watch anybody, no matter their social status insult her mom because they are poor. I can’t be your girlfriend, she said and broke away from him. She ran to the bench where Sofia sat, bowed her head and cried.
At the other end of the hall, Elsa heart the sound of breaking glasses and her curious nature made her raise up her head. She saw Sofia and Clinton helping a male waiter to pick up the pieces of glass from the floor and they placed the pieces into the silver tray held by the waiter. Something caught her attention, Sofia was bleeding from her left hand. Elsa thought of going to her, but she dismissed the thought immediately, she was emotionally down and needed help herself.
The time clocked 9 pm and the MC climbed the stage, it was time for the closing event, the Halloween prayers. It is time for the good will prayers, he announced, so everyone lit up your candles and the light of it will drive away the dark spirits of Halloween. Few minutes later everyone had a burning candles with them except Elsa, she sat on the bench and watched the event.
A name was whispered into her ears, It was soft and still. “Sofiaaa,” the voice whispered again. Elsa was alarmed, and she scanned the room in search of Sofia. She was standing right next to Clinton, and she held her candle with her right hand. Elsa also noticed stream of blood running down Sofia’s candle. She’s going to be fine, she said silently to herself.
Elsa was so lost in thought she did not notice when the Halloween’s prayers began, she was caught up at the middle. In the spot of Halloween, she heard the MC prayed, by the candle held with our right hands. Is voice was drained away from Elsa ears as her sensitive instinct made her turn towards Sofia. Her movement were off, She was certainly not fine. Elsa ran to her and held her arm, she was cold. Sofia what is wrong, Elsa inquired.
“Elsa, I am dying, take me home, was the only word she could utter. Suddenly, a strange wind blew forcefully into the hall and lightning struck. The candle died down and everyone in the hall stopped dancing. As sudden as the Candles died down they lited up again and Sofia collapsed in Elsa her. Frightened, Elsa screamed at the top of her voice and the sound echoed noiselessly in the hall.
