An Injury

When Kael awoke, he went and sought out a black embroidered sleeping mask from his mother's room and cut out two holes. He was feeling rather petty. Then he searched his wardrobe for the darkest, most form-fitting clothes he had and the quietest boots he could find. Together with these items, he grabbed two pistols from the castle's armoury, stashed them in a saddlebag and hid them away for tonight's use. Oh, it was going to be so much fun. That night saw him on his black steed riding off into the woods between the castle gates and the outside world. He rode into the trees under the cover of darkness and waited patiently with a bottle of wine and a sandwich for the next Omega that would be due anytime soon. Kael dozed off in the forty-five minutes he waited, waking up only when he heard a carriage being pulled by multiple horses and screeching. Honestly, the screeching. He drew out his pistol, ready to fire at whatever was making that horrifying noise and obviously scaring the horses. Poor creatures.  Until he realised it coming from the carriage itself. He rolled his eyes, another Omega. Definitely no for this one, too loud and wow, that is so high-pitched. Kael almost packed up and ran away from the terrible wailing but steeled himself and jumped out of the trees, pistols aimed at the carriage. "Out of the carriage and hand over the valuables," he said, loudly and clearly enough that the screechy omega heard as well. "What is this? Do you know who I am? How dare you try and steal from me! Guards! Do something!" she yelled. Kael cringed a little at her piercing sharp voice. Oh god, he had to find some way to get her out of the castle fast when she got there. "This is a robbery. I don't much care who you are. Now do what I say or I'll shoot." he told her, looking straight in her eyes and putting as much force into it as possible so she knew he meant business. It worked, and she gulped, instantly moving behind her guards.  He waved the pistols, "Well, get on with it." The poor guard looked positively terrified, Kael didn't really want to shoot at any of them but they wouldn't have done anything unless he fired off a shot. So, he pointed at the poor guard's feet, the boy looked a few years younger than him, and fired at the ground. The guard jumped in fright and turned to look at the Omega, pleading with his eyes. The Omega was obviously terrified too if the way she was holding on to his arm was any indication.  "Give him everything he wants." she hissed, glaring at Kael but too afraid to do anything.  Kael only smirked at her, “I’ll be generous. You can keep your clothes. You’re welcome.” He winked. This certainly was amusing. He'd definitely have to do this more often. It was fun. ~ Somewhere sailing the oceans, Mikiyo was on a luxury liner. He was living the life of a Prince, not that he wasn't in the Orient, but this was a whole new experience. Mikiyo completely intended to enjoy the time he had now before he had to face Prince Kael Peraz of Eura. Fortunately, his heat was over, he didn't know what he would do if he had to be stuck there for an extra week without any of his toys to help him. At least he had his favourite katana with him. Mikiyo shook his head, he sighed and relaxed on the deck chair, determined to enjoy his time alone now.  ~ The last few omegas had been extremely entertaining for Kael. It wasn't that he liked making fun of them so much. It's just that those that had arrived were stuck up and spoiled and absolutely had the best reactions when he teased them. One of them even burst into tears. He did feel a little bad for that one though. Mother couldn't figure out why the omegas arrived at the castles in fits of anger and almost always left the castle earlier than the designated one week visit, much to Kael's delight.  He was being childish, but it meant that the omegas would come and go earlier leaving him fewer opportunities to face them on a daily basis. It was a little weird though, every morning at breakfast, mother would ask the omegas if they had slept well. All of them would say ‘yes’ and then Mother would look disappointed. He didn't understand it. Whatever that was mother's business, he had the highwayman thing. He enjoyed being the mysterious masked entity so much that he was even looking forward to the next Omega which was due to arrive within a week. Some Mickey-something, he couldn't remember. Doesn't matter, he would have his fun. A week later, that new Omega finally arrived. This one seemed a little different though. The Omega and his entourage of fewer than ten guards moved so silently through the forest that Kael nearly missed them. The men, carrying the oriental looking chest, moved like ninjas, and the boy on a black horse rode just as silently. Was that the Omega, Mickey-something? He was pretty young, Kael thought, maybe mother made a mistake. Kael was so busy studying the beauty that he almost forgot to become the highwayman. Jumping out of the trees, he flipped and landing in a crouching position in front of the group. Not bad, he thought, unsure why he felt the need to impress the young omega. The group stopped. Kael stood and brushed some imaginary lint off his clothes then turned to face the Omega and grinned. He pointed his pistols at the Omega. "Give me whatever is in that box." The Omega only looked at him and said, "It does not belong to you." The offhand way the Omega spoke to him didn't sit well with Kael. He was so used to those whiny omegas that would wear their emotions on their sleeves. This Mickey-something was different. He pointed at their feet and fired, suddenly wanting very much to get this over and done with. But the Omega flinched and took a step back. Kael smiled in satisfaction.  The Omega spoke in a different language. "Anchisukiru ga mamoru." Guards protect. The Omega reached behind him and pulled out a katana. "You will have to get through me and my guards first." The smirk Kael had was gone. He was not amused. Kael could have run but something made him want to stay and get a rise out of him, so he pointed above the omega's shoulder and fired. Not a flinch. The Omega smiled a little, seemingly knowing that Kael didn't want to shoot him. In that case, Kael removed the hidden dagger he had in his boots and tossed the pistols away.  Now the Omega was outright smiling at him and he had such a beautiful smile with eyes that twinkled when he did. Kael was mesmerised. Shaking himself out of the trance the Omega seemed to put him under, he charged at the Omega, trying to look intent on hurting but probably failing anyway. It was the smile, he was still distracted. The Omega simply lifted his blade to block the fall of Kael's blade on him. Their eyes locked on each other and they stood there just staring. Kael was holding his breath, he was so close to the Omega and his eyes were enchanting, he only had to lean a few inches down and then they would be kissing. Then the Omega pushed back, his sharp blade swinging out. Kael was caught by surprise at the sudden force and didn't move back in time to avoid his arm being sliced by the sharp blade, his blood splashed onto a tree trunk. The spell that the Omega had on Kael was gone, his mind too occupied with the stinging pain that quickly faded into numbness. This was bad. Kael needed to get out before the shock of losing so much blood sunk in and he blacked out. He backstepped, dagger dropped and forgotten on the ground. His mind was so occupied that he missed the look of guilt on the omega's face.  Turning, he forced himself to run back to where his horse was waiting and mounted it, speeding back towards the back of the castle.  ~ Kael stumbled back to the privacy of his chambers, pausing every now and then to lean against the wall and rest. The cut on his arm was so deep, he would need stitches. Unfortunately, he couldn't go to the castle's primary physician. His mother would hear about this if he did. He would have to stitch himself up. Back in his room, Kael peeled off his soiled clothes, gasping in pain as the movement pulled at his wound. He used a damp washcloth to clean up the blood on his arm and shakily sewed the wound shut. Kael bit his tongue to keep from yelling in pain. After that, he dragged out whatever bandages he could find in his bathroom, kept for emergencies, and haphazardly wrapped them around his arm, securing them as best as could one-handed.  As soon as he was done, he collapsed on his bed in exhaustion and blood loss.
