Susanna didn’t think she’d done anything wrong: "Do you know how hard it is to make it in this circle? How am I supposed to work with a kid? Do you know how many rivals are watching me? They’re just waiting for me to slip up so they can rise up!"
Susanna’s usual sweet, delicate image was gone. She snapped, "If the child really wanted to be born, it should have fought harder! I went through connections just to get the test, and it turned out to be a girl."
"Which wealthy family would want a girl?" Susanna clenched her hands. "I was cast aside because of it!"
Malina’s mocking laughter grew louder.
The whole hospital seemed to tremble.
Malina didn’t seem to be speaking to anyone in particular: "What did I tell you? Adults have no hearts!"
