The little girl glanced at the priests and motioned for Amelia to come closer to her, saying, "Sister, last time I came, I saw something under the church that scared me."
"They seemed to have seen me too," the little girl said with a lingering fear in her voice. "After I went back, I got sick. Sister, isn't it supposed to be a place protected by the gods, where no one would harm children?"
The little girl looked up and said in a soft voice, but everyone around could hear clearly, "Why are there Mexican soldiers eating the fruit up there?"
The little girl reached out and pointed to the altar not far away.
There were a lot of offerings on the table, all of them were fresh.
