I opened my mouth to protest further, but the look in his eyes silenced me.   So I let him carry me through the gardens, both of us dripping water all the way to the palace’s infirmary. The doctor looked up in surprise as Isaac burst through the door with me still in his arms.   “What happened?” the doctor asked, jumping to her feet.   “She fell into a pond,” Isaac explained as he set me on a cot. “She can’t swim. I pulled her out, but we need to make sure the baby’s okay.”   The baby. Not me.
