For a moment, I saw my mother looking back at me.   As night fell, Elara helped me get ready for the festival. We left my black hair loose and flowing down my back, just as my mother liked to wear hers, apparently—before she started adhering to her tight updos, of course.   My makeup was minimal, just a touch of mascara and dark crimson lipstick.
