I was startled by Gunner's harshness with his mother. She seemed sweet and kind, I could understand why he would snap at her like that.
“Well of course not now Gunner, but maybe in the morning”
“Maybe” Gunner said as he looked back at his bowl.
I don't understand why he is being so short with her. She seems lovely, and she’s being so nice, was I missing something?
“I’d love to Roe” I said smiling at her.
Gunner looked at me and frowned a little. Roe looked happy and smiled brightly back at me.
“Okay my loves, just don’t stay up too late and keep the noise down or you’ll wake your father”
“Sure thing Mum” Gunner said watching her as she left the kitchen.
Once she was gone, he looked back down at his bowl and kept eating. I stared at him trying to understand the mood
