I walked out to the pond behind our house, I come here to think.
My uncle use to bring my brother and I here to fish when we were little, I don't see him much since we lost Noah.
This is probably one of my favorite places it was so peaceful and I love how the stars reflect in the calm water.
Sitting down at the waters edge I pulled out the necklace my mom gave me, holding it to the moon light, it sparkled blue and purple, it really was beautiful. So many things swarmed my mind.
Vampires?
I don't understand why?
Why now?
Why here?
Why have I never seen one before?
Do they look like normal humans?
Or do the sparkle like twilight?
Or do they look like Dracula?
Sighing I laid back onto the grass looking up to the sky my mind wandered back to Greyson, I've never met someone so impossibly handsome.
Figures he has a girlfriend not like I'd have a chance anyways he's one thousand percent out of my league. I closed my eyes and there he was I could hear his velvety voice and see his grey eyes something so familiar about him.
Why had I so easily opened up to him? He was so easy to talk to like I'd known him for years. He was a complete stranger but I still told him so much. A stick snapped behind me, my eyes flew open and I whirled around squinting into the darkness but I couldn't see anything. My heart rate slowed and I turned back to the pond once more fiddling with the necklace.
"Need some help?" someone said I jumped and yelped turning I saw Greyson.
"How..wh..what are you doing here?" I asked
"You forgot your sunglasses in my truck I just wanted to return them, your mom said you'd be out here."
I dont even remember taking my sunglasses off..
"Oh um thank you but it could have waited until tomorrow" I replied
"Ha yea I guess you're right" he said rubbing the back of his neck "so um do you need help putting that on" he said pointing at my necklace.
"Sure"
his eyes widened taking the necklace and examining it
"This is unique what is it?" He asked
"Oh I'm not sure my mom got it for me she said she thought it would look pretty on me" I lied no need to try to explain mythological creatures to a human he would just think I escaped the loony bin.
He fastened the necklace letting his hands linger on my neck and hair a few moments. I cleared my throat he dropped his hands to my arms and turned me around.
"Well she was right it looks pretty on you but it doesn't compare to your own beauty"
I felt a blush creep up my neck settling on my cheeks
"Thank you" I said my knees growing weak, he was still holding my arms I'm afraid if he wasn't I'd fall to the ground in a heap.
"Leighton can I try something?"
My mind raced with possibilities.
"Su...sure"
"Close your eyes" he instructed, I did as he said and closed my eyes. He let go of my arms and I heard him walk away I was about to open my eyes when I felt his soft pillowy lips crash into mine, for a moment I stood there shocked, I felt his hands on my face one moving to tangle in my hair.
I kissed him back matching his need, I heard a voice in my head that wasn't my own
'my angel'
my eyes snapped open and I pulled away
"You..you have a girlfriend" I said breathlessly.
"Not anymore" he answered his eyes hooded.
"What do you mean?" I asked
"I broke up with her when I got home"
"I don't get it, why?"
"I just realized that I don't love her, we were forced together by our families and she deserves someone who will love her as more than a friend"
"Oh" I answered
We stood there quietly for a few minutes. I finally spoke up.
"Listen greyson while I think you're incredibly handsome and your lips are the softest I've ever felt, I've only just met you today... I really think we should get to know eachother before doing anything like that again"
His face fell as he looked at his feet for a moment and then back to me with a perfect smile on his face.
"That's reasonable" he said starting to leave he turned back to me.
"Hey Leighton I can't wait to get to know you" and he was gone.
My stomach still home to millions of butterflies I walked back to the house.
